i just found out that a childhood best friend passed away from liver and kidney failure from alcoholism a few months ago. even though i hadn’t spoken to her since high school i’m still shook. i can’t stop looking at the photos of her looking deathly ill at the end and feeling deeply sad. it’s one thing to OD on heroin..you don’t think that you’re going to die, there’s a level of ignorance is bliss. it’s another to have a dragged on process where you’re hospitalized for a long time and then discharged, knowing that you’re going to die. and die so young! it’s tragic

feels like fake money

i reallocated my existing 401k into all US stocks

dumped my nest egg into a money market fund since the interest rate is way better than any savings account

dumped 10% of my cash into an index fund since the stock market is going through some shit rn

realized i never enrolled in my new job’s 401k so i am now contributing 50% of every paycheck until the end of the year so i can make sure i dumped in 10% of my pretax income for the year and pay less of the higher income bracket taxes
