Distance is a free digital fanzine containing 33 artists illustrations of all 46 episodes of the anime adaptations of Mushi-shi.

Update!

Since finals have been piling up with the school year coming to a close, I haven’t had a lot of free time to spend going through applications and I will probably not get any for the next couple weeks.

I will have a timeline up sometime near the end of this week. However, I will probably have to push back emails for those who are accepted until around May 15th.

Sorry for having everything take so long and I hope that you will continue to be interested in and support this project! Thank you all!!

Thank you to everyone who applied! There was a lot more than I ever expected and I am so excited by the support that this project has gotten!

I will try to have emails sent out to those who were and weren’t accepted as the main artists by the end of the month.

I will also post an official timeline before then. If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the meantime! :)

Hiya! Have you planned a date for the deadline for submitting the final piece? I'd love to apply, but I haven't yet because I'm graduating this year and it would be pretty irresponsible for me to participate before July ^^; Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing all the art and hopefully buying your zine! Lovely plan :))

The apps close and the artists will be decided in April. The art making process will be given about 2-3 months so around late July would be when the pieces would be due (approximately.) I hope that helps! :)

i'm interested in applying! quick question though. while looking over the form, i didn't see the path of thorns special listed (gotta love my dude kumado). are special episodes/movies not going to be covered? thanks!

I had not originally planned to include the specials, but I might since so many amazing people are applying! If you are more interested in the specials just say so and which ones in the comments of the application, and if I end up including them, you will be considered for their assignment. :)

I just applied for the zine and I wanna say I am SO EXCITED to see how this comes out, I've been a huge fan of Mushi-Shi for a very long time and I'm so happy to see people trying to come together to put out beautiful content for a beautiful series. Hello hello hello! I am SO happy you're doing a Mushi-shi zine based on EPISODES. Not just GINKO. As much as I LOVE that man the episodes and characters other than him are so beautiful!!! I cannot wait to see who's accepted and how their entries end up looking!!

Yes! I will release a timeline closer to April near the end of applications, don’t worry.

Right now what I can tell you is that there will be three check-in times for the artists about a month or two apart from each other. So there will be plenty of time for everyone to do what they want and to deliberate with each other and receive feedback if they want it!
