I discovered Faded Paper Figures a few weeks before the release of their 2012 release, The Matter. They were advertising the record on the last page of the Nov. 2012 issue of Under The Radar, which I used to read. (Until I realized the rating system for their published reviews seemed to never correlate with my personal scale.) My attention was seized by the album art and immediately Youtube'd their music when I got home only to discover this underrated gem. The song is upbeat, the beat is catchy, and the glaring synths are a perfect addition to the song. Also, the female-singer of the band whose name I'm too lazy to Google and find out, comes in at around 1 minute and 30 seconds into the song for a verse which is definitely my favorite part of the song.

"I don't believe in an interventionist God"

First track off Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds The Boatman's Call; Into My Arms is a slowtempo, piano-driven track in which Nick Cave addresses his platonic love and expresses to her his love for her by saying how he doesn't believe in an interventionist God, but if he did, he'd ask him not to intervene in Nick's and the unknown lover's relationship. He also goes on and states he doesn't believe in angels, but if he did, he'd ask them to watch over her. They are really minimal, but beautiful lyrics of romantic-expression accompanied by melancholy piano. Also, the chorus manages to successfully use repetition to its advantage. Great track overall; one of my favorite recent discoveries.

Mouthwatering, beautiful, perfect, japanese Shoegaze music. Shoegaze is definitely the music of God. No Shoegaze could ever be bad. This whole album just makes me feel like flying over the Tokyo skyline whilst my vision's blurred and everything seems hazy.

Acoustic psych-folk from singer-songwriter Simon Finn; for fans of Dylan, Nick Drake, and everything in between. This song I pleasant and simple both musically and lyrically. For something more lyrically heavy from the same album, I recommend you check out "Jerusalem", by Simon Finn.

First song off Spiritualized's classic Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. This song, like many others, shares the theme of being in love, needing to be loved back, and feeling like you'll love someone 'til you die. All universal themes, all feelings every human has experienced. I mean, who can't relate to "All I want in life's a little bit of love to take the pain away?"

Grouper is a solo project consisting of the ambient musician Liz Harris, from Portland, Oregon. This is the last track off the second part of her two-part album series, A I A. The album A I A: Alien Observer is truly a masterpiece and one of my favorite recent discoveries. It's just so blissful and it makes falling asleep so much easier. I also love listening to it while I read or write to browse the internet because it's so tranquil and will not disturbed you but, it's more than background music. if you focus on Liz's mesmerizing guitars and vocals, you will find this album is truly extraordinary.  For most albums, I download it for their album cover, then the music is tedious, so just I leave them there to rot in my library but, fortunately, this one was not the case for this one.

Fun Fact: I was listening to Squarepusher's Feed Me Weird Things while taking a test during class about a month ago and when this song came up, I almost teared up during the second half it. I had to turn my face from my classmates to prevent myself from crying :( The chords during the second half of the song are so simple yet so exceptionally soothing.

Smooth, bassy track from Japanese acid-jazz collective and pioneers, United Future Organization. The repetitive (in the most positive connotation of the word) opening track off their 1992 record, Jazzin', is truly one of my favorite acid-jazz feel-good tracks I've heard in a while.

I Hate Myself was an emo band from Gainesville, Florida. This one is my favorite album from their debut and (correct me if I'm wrong) only LP, 10 Songs. They were only active from 1996 through 1997 which is unfortunate due to the amount of potential shown in their short but eloquent discography.

Melancholy track by sadcore/folk-punk band Crywank. This song in specific stands out to me from their 2013 effort" Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday And Everyday Is Stupid" due to the hyper-personal lyricism. Crywank are no strangers to such style of song-writing but this song stands out to me due to lines such as:

"I wouldn't want to hurt you by letting you hurt me 

you don't deserve to feel guilty  I'm an overly sensitive impatient little freak  you'd do better to turn your back on me "

and

"and if you don't want me, well thats just tough luck. 

I think about you but I know I'm not good enough.  Have I built you up too much? Now I can't say  whats on my mind incase I go and scare you away. "

Ulrich Schnauss is a German electronic musician from the town of Kiel. As described in his Last.fm profile, his love for music ranged from My Bloody Valentine to Tangerine Dream, and on this song, we see his My Bloody Valentine side.

Haven't posted in about  a month or so mainly because I'm always too lazy to describe the music I'm sharing and turn my brain on. Anyway, here's some shit. I share the full album because I couldn't find specific songs on YouTube. The album's really short but it's great. Check it out.

The piano is minimal but spot on; the voice is angelic and the lyrics provoke vivid imagery. It does indeed emit a very 70's feel to it -- Bowie-esque even, like the comments stated. This song is incredible and has a music video directed by Tyler, The Creator's alter-ego: Wolf Haley.

A fan-fucking-tastic song from Brazilian pianist/organist, Walter Wanderley. The vibe this song emits is unreal. "Elevator" music or not, Walter Wanderley, especially this song, is some of the best lounge/bossa nova I've heard in my short life. I remember not sleeping an entire night one time during the summer, and watching the sunrise from my "balcony" to this song while eating scrambled eggs I cooked myself, and drinking orange juice. It was nice.

"From the lounge masters album '1968'. If you are into lounge music, easy listening and space age pop then this is the man for you." From my preferred Mexican musician, this is "The King of Space Age Pop", Esquivel! (stylized with the !) I can't think of words to describe this song accurately at the moment but it's a fun song, real great. The song has a fun, provocative tone to it. It kind of sounds like hot, drunk girls having fun in the late 50's.
