I need to finish editing and recording my first album, but honestly tempted to write an album inspired by The Picture of Dorian Grey

Inspirations? General vibes?

Music and fantasy books in general? Although, admittedly, the way Sparkbird does wordplay is an inspiration for the songs that are yet to be written as well.

I love the way an artist tells a story with their own albums. Usually about themselves. And I love fantasy books So Much. Especially ones where you don't know who is and isn't in the right in a situation. Where the protagonist is complex.

And I think that's the vision I want to paint here. This protagonist is riddled with guilt for the things they've done. Even though it was to help others. Even though they couldn't have known how wrong it would go.

Obviously not everyone blames the protagonist. But I'm trying to paint that more from the standpoint of them not knowing the protagonist?

Like I said, musical adjacent haha.

New album is distributed March 17th. I wanted it to be at noon that day but IDK if I get that much control over it.

It is a story in music format, but I don't think it counts as a musical. It's definitely fantasy themed and deals with survivor's guilt and blame. And just the LYRICS to some of these songs. OH My WORLD.

"No one to shield the pain / No one to take the blame."

It's open ended. Kind of. I plan to make a whole storyline with this album with other albums?

In fact, as yet unnamed Album 3 ties into this album (this is album 2, since it's my second album). However someone who doesn't know that album 3 ties into this album would figure it out at the end of Album 3. I have SO many plans actually.

In Forgotten Lands has my heart for SO many reasons. I want to release it now. But

1. Not all the songs have been written, nevermind recorded yet.

2. I wanna release it on my birfday

Anyways it is musical-esque? It is not a musical but it is adjacent to being one.

I love it. It deals with survivor's guilt and blame, along with being a fantasy story in song mode.

And it has an open ending.

Favorite song you've ever written?

Ooh, hard one. I think written has got to be Forgotten Lands, just because of the way it flows in my head!

10. Song singing snippet?

This was done in a study room on my college campus, which is why the sound is so echoey. And why my voice is so quiet. (I didn't want to get in trouble for being too loud).
