Swimsuits May Be Popular,But Being Naked Is A Way Of Fully Experiencing The Water And The Sun.☀️🍎🍏🍃🌿🌱🌳
“Sweet, sane, still Nakedness in Nature! — ah if poor, sick, prurient humanity in cities might really know you once more! Is not nakedness then indecent? No, not inherently. It is your thought, your sophistication, your fear, your respectability that is indecent. There come moods when these clothes of ours are not only too irksome to wear, but are themselves indecent. Perhaps indeed he or she to whom the free exhilarating ecstasy of nakedness in Nature has never been eligible (and how many thousands there are!) has not really known what purity is — nor what faith or art or health really is.” - Walt Whitman
I do find his sandals offensive, but that's another matter.
Definitely
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A NUDIST?
What Being A Nudist Means
To begin with, it may surprise some people to learn that according to the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR)1, 22% of people both male and female in western cultures are practicing nudists; that implies that 2.2 people out of every 10 people that you know are nudists, including your family and friends. And, many social and physical scientists, including Dr. Margaret Mead2 claim that nudism is both physically and mentally healthy.
True, basic, fundamental nudism is about comfort, freedom, being shame free with total acceptance of the nude human body. It’s the belief that the human body is not inherently sexual or lewd. True nudists understand that nudity and sexuality are two entirely separate subjects. Nudism is a mindset that allows people to separate their physical body from their sexual desires; specifically, nudism is not about sex. Nudism is about body acceptance and respect; where one enjoys the sensuous feeling of one’s bare body in nature. That is why so many happy couples and families enjoy wholesome family-friendly nudist activities such as nude biking, camping, hiking, and swimming, going to nudist resorts, nudist beaches and nudist parks. They seek out other nudists and nudist organizations that promote wholesome family-friendly nudism. Nudist families typically are affiliated with national and/or international nudist organizations that advocate only family-friendly nudist activities. True family-friendly nudism is not a means of self-gratification or for sexual excitement. Nudism is an unspoken, interpersonal relationship among enlightened people wherein nudists accept each other without body shame. Nudism therefore is about total respect, acceptance and appreciating without shame of the most magnificent of God’s creations, the human body. DR
1-American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR): The largest family-friendly nudist organization in America. Others nudist organizations include the International Nudist Association (INA) based in Europe.
2-Dr. Margaret Mead, 1901-1976. Dr. Mead has written many articles and papers on different cultures, and states in some of her writings an advocacy for nudism. Dr. Mead is quoted as saying, “I share a belief that nudism in families is natural and that extending it to a camp or resort where nudism can be safely practiced can be constructive.”
A little video we all should take a moment to watch and think about.
Instead of thinking about what divides us we should think about what we have in common…
I’ve reblogged this on every account I have.
This is simplistic and intended to tug on heartstrings and all that shit but guys I really needed to see something about people not being dicks so if you needed that too please watch this.
Thanks for this, Denmark.
i think maybe we could all use a little simple heartstring-tugging right about now. <3
