knights kissing
ok I know everyone’s considered Ryland grace wearing an “I put the ace in space” t shirt but. have we considered the infinitely funnier option of putting this shirt on eva stratt
I had to draw this
book grace: rocky would you still love me if i were a worm
movie rocky: would grace still love rocky if rocky were a taumoeba
A witch puts a spell on a girl, a sleeping spell that promises the girl shall wake through true love’s kiss. Men come and kiss her. She slumbers. Women come and press their lips to hers, but still she sleeps. Many years past, and the girl remains still. One bright morning, a lost little boy finds her resting spot and clears the dust and grime from her face. He offers her a kiss on her forehead, and her eyes flutter open. She never feels romantic love for a man nor a woman, and she cares for the boy until the day she dies.
A young woman is imprisoned in a castle by a monstrously formed prince. The servants of the castle hope for them to fall in love, and when the spell is broken they assume their prayers have been answered. They are all surprised, but nonetheless pleased, when it is revealed to them that the young woman and prince are the truest of friends, and nothing more.
They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen, a woman who is incapable of loving. She is unmarried, she has no consorts, and she wishes for no partner. She is the wretched queen, the heartless queen. She must hate her daughter, for her daughter is beautiful, and women are incapable of liking another woman who’s prettier than themselves. It must be for this reason that the princess was sent away, not for how she was attacked by a man in the woods. They say the kingdom is ruled by an evil queen because she cannot love. The queen loves her daughter, and that is enough for them both.
There lives a prince who is forced to choose a bride at the ball. He meets many beautiful women, but find none which he loves. He spies one in a gorgeous gown and wonder in her eyes, and he dances with her all night long. The kingdom is sure he has found his bride. When the clock strikes midnight he tells her how he will never love a woman, or a man, in the way he is expected to. The beautiful woman smiles and tells him she expects nothing from him. The next morning the prince and the beautiful woman are missing, having run off together to see the world. They leave their shoes behind in their haste.
Many kinds of love exist. It doesn’t all have to be romantic.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
You’ve seen those photos of dogs snapped through catching a treat, with just the silliest faces? I see those and raise you: a tiger catching meatballs.

i think americans should have to put a banner above their post that says U.S. CENTRIC ADVICE/INFORMATION. i think political posts should clarify that they are giving protest/societal/class information relevant only to the USA i think i would like to stop getting halfway through a post with really good information and then realising it is not widespread advice and is only applicable in the united states of america
for the love of GOD can we PLEASE stop treating us-centric advice as applicable to the whole entire world. Please. beyond anything else, i do not think you guys understand how difficult it makes it for young people to interact with and learn information relevant to them.
at a certain point, treating us-american advice as universally applicable borders on misinformation. i am not saying that it is done maliciously, but it is dangerous at worst. i do not want younger people going around assuming that certain laws do/do not apply to them and getting in trouble because of it. i worry about what 'fundamental/constitutional/labour rights' are only legally defensible in the USA. i worry about kids who do not know yet to wonder where the advice is for, and take it as fact because a post that reads "EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THIS" begins with "EVERYONE".
okay yes all the tags are very very good points but i would like to point out the main reason i made this post, which is that
if you are non-american then it can be dangerous to hold beliefs about your rights that are only applicable in the US.
i am australian and i have seen young australians have completely us-american perceptions on the rights they hold (or do not hold) in regards to protest, police officers, self-defense, medical care, higher education, debt, and legal proceedings. i am not talking about "boooo americans" i am talking about the genuine danger it might present to have us-centric assumptions in high-stakes situations
(please do not chalk this up to 'if you don't do research then you are stupid'. i made this post with young people in mind. that being said i am willing to bet it also applies to others, ie those who are newer to non-local internet, older folks, or those escaping high-control environments.)
Exercise and Hypermobility
This resource is a long read but it's really thorough, covering why exercise is different when you're hypermobile, what the scientific literature says about exercise and hypermobility, proprioception, different joints, foot arches, what you should know about stretching, pilates and yoga, running and higher-impact activities, pacing, KT tape, and nutrition. There's also a section on exercising with POTS, and another on exercise for children with hypermobility.
Everything you need to know about exercising safely with hypermobility and EDS. Joint-by-joint rehab, proprioceptive training, and evidence-
You ARE lost, my bus friend. That is a BC Transit bus and a bus stop in Vancouver, the one (1) city in the province whose transit system isn't part of BC Transit.
What fortuitous timing! I’m not sure exactly when you reopened your ask box, but I know it was recent. Anyway, I picked up my silver rings yesterday!! I have an issue though, and I’m not sure if you have any advice. They’re like borderline too tight sometimes, like they make my skin around them go a bit white when I’m actually using my hands. BUT they also launch off my hands sometimes like when I swing my arm to do something. I’m not sure what to do. Because this change in hand size was just like over the course of yesterday. Not like seasonal swinging.
Oh, so you can adjust them. You can’t do it too often because it can weaken the metal but yeah, depending on where you got them from there should be info about how to adjust them with a few squeezes/pulls. Let me see if I can upload a video in this reply…
Sorry if this uploads in potato quality I’m in bed and dragged my tripod over for this.
ID: a pair of hands wearing numerous ring splints to prevent over extension of the finger joints. The person demonstrates the correct fit of the first three fingers of their hands before coming to the right ring finger which slides off too easily. The ring is removed and held up to the camera and then gently pulled to stretch the “joint” of the ring to create a snugger fit.
The ring is now too tight and the person takes it off, squeezing the ring “closed” to loosen the fit. The ring now fits but the person takes it off again, squeezing the joint further to make it looser to show how to achieve a looser fit in the event of finger swelling. They give the camera a jaunty thumbs up before ending the video.
You need to do this sparingly and incredibly gently because it will weaken the joints of the ring over time. I have to adjust mine because I frequently have swelling in my hands and the joints in some of my rings are wearing out quickly because of this, but my rings are also five years old at this point.
I hope that helps explain how to change the fit!
Meanwhile this was what various medical professionals in that reddit thread had to say about it.
They do not, in fact, love it.
The proof that chiropractic is an utterly failed medical profession is not that adjustments can cause harm, but that the profession has responded by ignoring and denying the harm, rather than studying it.
All medical treatments (other than complete placebos) have some risk of harm, but for real treatments given by real professionals, the harms are tracked, measured and warned about. If the harms are too severe, the treatment is no longer used.
One of my colleagues was a chiropractor. After a while he began to suspect that a lot of his patients actually just had muscle tears, not spinal issues. He bought an ultrasound machine, learned how to use it and how to read ultrasound, and found that to be the case. Between that and the constant pressure from management to get customers (because lbr, they're not patients, they're customers), he got sick and tired of it and bailed to become a sonographer full time.
And before people pipe up with "but my chiro is good, they have me do exercises and so on!" that's just regular ass physiotherapy. See a physiotherapist. A lot of people who sing the praises of chiros because they saved them from chronic pain would have gotten the same benefits from seeing an actual licensed physio, who can prescribe the same or even better exercises because they have an actual fucking education.
The amount of fucking charts I've seen where a patient went to a chiropractor and now needs a surgery is fucking insane. All I do is medical charts, day in and day out doing medical code. I've gone over hundreds of patients whole year of appointments. Unless the chiropractor is also a physical therapist, that patient is going to get worse and need surgery with very few exceptions. It doesn't matter when they mention seeing a chiropractor, by the end of the year they need surgery for issues that started after *shock and awe* a chiropractor appointment! I've seen patients needing multiple surgeries to be functional after chiropractors. I've seen patients lose their ability to walk because of chiropractors. And all the way up till they need surgery, through the issues piling up and needing more pain meds, the patients insist it's helping because the want so badly for it to be helping. I wish it did

psa if you’re just naturally flexible or “double jointed” and you think it’s cool that you can bend at your joints really far and easily do deep stretches without having to maintain your flexibility and maybe you’ve considered taking up contortion as a hobby cause why not right?
STOP THAT!!!!!
JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN BEND THAT WAY DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD!!
PROTECT YOUR HYPERMOBILE JOINTS AND RESTRICT YOURSELF TO A NORMAL RANGE OF MOTION OR YOU WILL HAVE CHRONIC JOINT PAIN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
this message brought to you the by the undiagnosed EDS gang
I think about this like once a day
I have heard a variant on it that I really like: "You cannot hate yourself into someone you can love."
Fuck you, true
EDS being comorbid with autism and ADHD is hilarious actually because neurodivergent people all gravitate toward each other like chaotic neutron stars and then when everyone has the same fucked up body problems we all think that means we're normal.
This was my day today:
My friend: I experience {x} because of suspected EDS
Me: Oh shit that's a Symptom? I might have EDS
Us, back and forth for 3hrs as we compare and do research: Oh shit THAT's a symptom too?
Me, later, to my partner: So all these things I thought were normal actually mean I almost definitely have EDS
My partner: Oh shit those are Symptoms? I might have EDS
