Guys I don’t really have words...I loved #folklore but it was a very sad and heavy album...So while I thought it was her best...it wasn’t my fave...But this one...hits different somehow...It has its sad moments and emotional, but feels more hopeful somehow...It was the album I truly needed this year...and while I still think #folklore is the better album...this one is almost as great and still is my fave between the two, and to quote or paraphrase Tay, “both of these can be true...” So many faves on this album...champagne problems, and tis the damn season, and gold rush etc...Marjorie both wrecked and helped me heal, as I’ve lost family members and what she says is true...They’re still with me...and evermore was the perfect ending...Love that she has Joe...😍Wish more people would realize that unhappiness and hard times don’t last for evermore...🙏🤎I love u Tay, so much! Whaaaaaaat?!!!! I swear this woman just lives to give us heart attacks!!! We knew something big was coming...but a whole other album?!!!!!! 😱😱😮😮 Still I’m so grateful for Taylor for doing this...A member of my fam has health problems and is in the hospital right now...so it’s made this holiday season not as happy as it could be...but this just made my day and maybe the rest of 2020 for me in a way...Thanks @taylorswift for the surprise and birthday gift and always being there for us!!! And now I’ve come to the end of my song by song review of #folklore Which is a little sad, but I’m mostly excited because now I can watch the concert! Can’t believe how long it is and that she talks about every song! Taylor like never does that! She talks about some or most but not usually all! 🤗😍❤️ Anyway...lol! The lakes is the last song! And it’s such a beautiful love song! I love the line, “is it romantic how all my elegies eulogize me?” First of all who else could put elegies and eulogize in a modern song and who else would try?!!! 😮😂❤️ Only Taylor! I love the play on words, of “tell me what are my wordworth?” So much of this song is romantic but in a really old way, as well as revealing what an old soul Taylor is! And who else writes or can write like this?! She truly is in a class by herself! And muse is not a word u always hear too, though as an aspiring artist, it is a fave of mine! Love the “I don’t belong” line too, and her singing about wisteria and auroras and sad prose, and then using “tweet” in the same song!!! 😂 Only Taylor! Anyway I love this song! peace is such a beautiful song...Taylor had spoken about the meaning of the song before the concert special and to her it meant then, in the midst of her chaotic life...would her and Joes love be enough? Would all that they had be enough if they never had a completely still and quiet peaceful life, like regular people...who can take walks publicly or retire to a private place...So much of her life wasn’t like that in the past...And it’s a profound question really...aid it enough, am I enough, if I can’t give u a normal life...? Betty is the last song in the love triangle, trilogy of songs, written from James, the guys point of view...I love this song! Even the cursing is funny! I love the mention of the cardigan and all the little details in the song...There really are too many great lyrics to list here but most of them are in the pics I included here...I think the genius thing here is the way Taylor wove the love triangle and all three songs and stories from each of their points of views together...and the way she put in the cardigan as a clue so we would figure things out! I also love how the song truly sounds like it’s from a teenager May point of view and how she used Inez in the song! And just casually revealed her famous friends child’s name! Only Taylor! epiphany is a powerful song in part about Taylor’s grandfather who died in battle in World War II. It’s also in tribute in a beautiful, achingly heartbreaking way, to anyone whose died in battle and to essential workers, of today. And due to all that this nation’s black people and all we’ve gone through this year, with Black Lives Matter, it makes me think of George Floyd too, in his last moments...looking for relief and calling for his mom...It’s a powerful song on death and our final moments and what people may think about and maybe even may spur people to think about what’s really important...Like what will really matter on your deathbed...u won’t be thinking of money or fame or success, but the people and things that really matter. Mad Woman written from the perspective of a woman scorned...and the woman who cheated, to a man and his wife...It’s a powerful song like illicit affairs about the impact of cheating on a person and if ur gonna put f u forever in a song, lol, Taylor did it best! 😂 It’s shocking a bit, especially because it’s Taylor singing, but I think that’s the point...I am not a big fan of cursing in music, but I do think there are times when it really makes sense, like here...A lot of people thought the song references K and K West, and it could be...but I think it’s just a great song. I also like the and “she should be mad, should be scathing like me”, “...but no one likes a mad woman” Which is kind of the point of the whole song...This idea that no matter why she’s mad, no one likes a mad woman...That we as women aren’t allowed to be as multi-faceted as men and get the same treatment. It harkens back to The Man, really...Where there are double standards for women vs men. Invisible String is one of my fave songs on the album...one because it’s one of the few songs on the album actually about Taylor...and two because it’s just such a beautiful song and sentiment. We or she went from “dancing with our hands tied” on reputation, tying her to an ex...to an “invisible string”always having linked her to the love of her life from the beginning...And it’s just such a powerful visual and idea and statement. And how true is that for so many...We go through our lives looking for the right person and going through all the wrong people...only to find the right person and feel like it was always meant for us to be with them...Another great song and such a wonderful, profound way of putting things. And I loved the detail in the song again...the waitress that was bold and said she “looked like an American singer...” and the mention of the lakes...Some of my other fave lines are in the pics! Illicit Affairs is a powerful song about just that...Which shows what a great songwriter Taylor is because she’s never been in this situation and to write this song so vividly as though she has is really something. We all love the “Don’t call me kid, Don’t call me baby” line. I also like the u “showed me colors I can’t see with anyone else”, and the details in the song, like how she’d be flushed, let’s just say from running when she came home...powerful and very adult...It does show that Tay is really a woman now and understands so much...and how great of a songwriter and storyteller she is to be able to write and tell stories from others perspectives and of things she’s never experienced and some complete fantasy.
