My First Band - WeTheBand
So I’ve found two talented people on in my class who loves singing and playing music. Since we share a common interest and still very new to jamming in a band, we decided to come together and form a just for fun band. In the band, there will be a vocalist who will also play the piano/keyboard, a guitarist who can sing well also and me playing the bass, adding in drums in the computer with some software and also bringing all the loose pieces together and then edit the song into something awesome.
This is our first cover ! Finally after so long I’m able to do an actual cover on other artist’s song. Of course this is just the instrumental cover so it’s not completed yet. Just a little teaser for what is coming soon.
My Experience
So after three of us trying to play music together as a band, we do find out some problems that we are facing. Well, you can’t expect getting perfect result on the first try. I believe we will slowly improve together as a band.
So you might ask what actually are the problems that I’m talking about. Problems like Finding the right key for the specific song is one of them. I myself is really weak in finding the key for guitar because I don’t have much theory knowledge about scales and stuff like that. But currently I’m working on it by trying to learn from YouTube on some basic scales for guitar and all the basic knowledge that I should know in a band. Secondly, I don’t have a properly tuned piano because my parent bought a second-hand upright piano which isn’t properly maintained by tuning regularly cause neither me nor my sister know much about piano when we got it. So Can’t really collaborate properly with the same key. I sounded weird. That’s why I decided to do a cover of something that doesn’t actually involve or require a piano. Thirdly my editing skills or knowledge of the software (Ableton Live 9) isn’t that good or even enough to edit the song properly yet. I can’t edit out some unwanted noises, can’t normalize or remix the separate track volumes to a suitable volume and I didn’t set the tempo in the software before recording so it’s giving me a lot of problem when editing the tracks.
Overall I feel that I’s a great experience for the three of us and also our band. I really hope we can improve soon and come up with some awesome covers or remixes or even our own songs soon.
