Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- People in the DPRK are well aware that their happiness is unthinkable without the indomitable fighting spirit of the heroes who devoted their youth and lives to their beloved country without hesitation, and that if they forget it even for a moment, they will become slaves of the enemy again. Therefore, they have cherished the heroic spirit and brilliant feats of the victorious wartime generation as the priceless moral treasure.

The ever-victorious history of our country will continue to be created forever thanks to the successors who are steadfastly carrying forward the revolution, bearing in mind as a symbol of victory the spirit of defending the country displayed by the heroes who defended even an inch of the land at the cost of their blood. -0-

Koryo Studio commissioned North Korean artists to hand-paint movie posters of North Korean movies for a film festival in 2002."Hand painted North Korean posters are still used to promote screenings around the country. However, as they were only ever intended as temporary works (to promote local screenings) the condition and quality of the original versions is rather poor. Hence the commission given to artists in the DPRK by Korfilm, the DPRK film corporation which is responsible for promoting international film exchanges and the Pyongyang International Film Festival. The posters were shown in 2002 in Beijing during a promotional screening event of North Korean films. After the event Koryo Studio managed to purchase the posters. The commissioned artists based their compositions on printed promotional posters which would have first come out with the film – these used film stills of the various stars against relevant backdrops."
