Something that's weird to me about the sote fandom is that people just kinda accepted that God is right?

Ressurection is only forbidden because God said so, but he also forbade elongation of life and even forbade the angels from creating new life. The angels whose main job seems to be collecting light (power) for him. Who said that he's inherently benevolent? Maybe he's a tyrant that hates ressurection because it threatens his power?

Everybody is constantly talking about the circle of misery that the charecters are trapped in but no one ever seems to address the person who trapped them all there in the first place?? To the point I've seen people say that the warning of the angel God sent to punish sika madu is the author mouth piece but why? Why are you assuming God is right?? Maybe he's not even a God! In this world there is magic and the powers of light and darkness, sika madu created humanity from mud with the help of a humonculus. Maybe this so called God is nothing more than a person who got enough power to do the same on a larger scale?

I don't think this is where we're going because there's no time left to explore it. But idk I just think saying that 'trying to defy God is inherently wrong' is weird, especially in a series that shows time and time again that the way this world works is inherently cruel, doesn't it mean the God who made it is cruel too?

I view Seraph of the End as very akin to Paradise Lost. Shikama Doji being the prideful angel bound to earth as punishment from God. Shikama collects dark energy, god collects light. That’s where people get the idea that Shikama must be the one in the wrong.

It’s the narrative parallels associated with that.

I don’t view God or the angel they sent as the authors mouthpiece though. I think it’s fair to say Kagami might believe life is hard/cruel, but I just don’t get the impression that the series condemns anyone who wishes they could change it. I think the series is about exploring trauma , grief, desperation etc

I think that’s why after Kagami’s grandfather died the series shifted heavily to frequently asking the question “what is the point of life?”

There isn’t a right answer in who to root for in Seraph of the End. I’ve seen fans root for any one of them including Shikama Doji. It just depends on who you connect with most as to who’s morals you’ll ultimately root for, and who you’ll root against. People value different things in life afterall.

I actually view that as one of the ways the series is incredibly well written.

your post about yoichi was agesss ago but apparently someone on the subreddit said early on in the manga (or fanbook i forgor) it was said/stated that Lacus prefers the blood of boys and doesnt really like that of girls, so i think yoichi having a different motive was planned and the case all along it just might seem a bit rushed/abrupt since the manga has kinda neglected the shinoa squad for a while tbh. i think ppls main issue with the manga is pacing and they wish certain plot elements were revealed more slowly over time

I also believe more was planned for the shinoa squad in general that got a bit lost in the fact there was too many characters. That's why it feels rushed/abrupt to some people.

It's easier to manage plot elements and pacing when you have a smaller scale to work with. Something was always going to get left behind or feel neglected with the scale of Seraph of the end.

The timeline of the story starts at "the dawn of humanity" to "the apocalypse" and is story that has details revealed backwards.

I think that is probably the one and only thing Id change about the story if it was mine. I'd drastically reduce the number of characters to focus on.

This might be a controversial take, but I don't view Mikayuu as queerbaiting.

The manga has said they are in love. Regardless of whether they kiss or any of that, it's just a canon fact they care about eachother most in the world. Even people who have a distinct hatrid for "shipping culture" agree on that....because it's just true.

From snooping different corners of the internet that have seraph of the end fans in them, it really is so fascinating to me just how different the fandom can look purely based on what platform youre exploring it.

I am so happy more people appear to be either re-reading the series or beginning the series now we're close to the end. It's bitter sweet.

I feel like I don't belong in the OnS fandom cuz why is everyone celebrating that it's finally over because they hated it? Like damn I acknowledge its many flaws but I still love this series. If I didn't, I would have stopped reading a while ago!

It's so sad to see most people reacting with contempt at the ending of the manga, with few people appreciating anything at all about this long journey. I don't know if the ending will be good or bad, but man did these characters live rent free in my head, uninterrupted, for 10 whole years (and still do ofc).

It's my favourite manga of all time, i love it so much. Ive never seen another manga like it. i will cry when it ends regardless of whether ending is good or not. Its such a beautiful story.

The seraph of the end subreddit is just as filled with people who hate the series, but oddly enough the discord server for that subreddit is filled with people who love the series and talk fondly of it daily.

SPOILER CHAPTER 154-155: I loved the twist w Yoichi

I think because I always felt there was something off about him that to me, it feels like finally getting pay-off.

The story about "avenging my sister" always seemed more natural and made more sense with Kimizuki. Same with Yuu wanting to avenge Mika. It's not just Yoichi's personality that made that feel strange to me, but like everything about the way he interacted with his demon. So to me the reveal re-contextualized his character in a way that was super satisfying.

I was like "ohh, that explains a lot about him."

Kimizuki was in the army to get medical treatment. Yuu was there for revenge. Yoichi's demon told him he didnt actually want revenge...so it always made him feel like...so why is he here? This softie??? Learning he was another experiment victim just checks out.

(The number of people I've seen interpret him having a split personality/secret ability meaning he must be a psycho is genuinely concerning. It just means he's traumatized.)

Also i feel like there's already a lotta characters motivated either by a dead loved one or a sibling or smth. So it helps seperate him from the others in a unique way without changing his character at all really.

Anyway. Love him.
