Headcanon; Riley hated her mother because of the way she treated Sydney in regards to her power. As a child, she was open about this and didn’t care when she fell ill. However, when the woman died, it hit Riley in a way she never expected. To this day, she struggles with the guilt because of how she treated her mother in the end.
