Either there was plenty of fish in the lake or Etros was looking after him today, but Noctis has never- in the entirety of his fishing record- ever experienced this. Or maybe his skills were too superb and these fish wouldn’t resist. Yeah, it was probably the latter. Catching half a dozen fish within minutes of each other didn’t happen to just anyone.
Although his usual circle of friends weren’t present to take pictures of his record, or give him lip on his fragile line (he w a s going to change it after another catch), a feline took their usual spot a few feet back, appearing just as excited as the next caught fish would be its meal.
Shortly after the cat’s tail twitched, there was a bite.
“Got it!” A force on the other end of the line almost pulled him in, but with quick instincts he firmly planted his feet on the deck and mustered enough strength to reel the line all while keeping up with the direction of the fish. Wide blue eyes caught a glimpse of the enormous red monster as it splashed near the surface of the lake, making him all the more determined to catch it. The battle carried on like this– pointing the rod, reeling, pointing the rod again– and it turned out luck was not on his side.
The line eventually snapped, causing Noctis to stagger back, stumble over his container of iced fish and fall on his ass.
“Great, just great.” He placed the rod nearby, allowing his hands to curve into fists as frustration took over. The Prince was clearly displeased with the embarrassment that had just transpired, and after a minute of sulking, he gazed over at his furry companion. At least someone was enjoying themselves.
“You know I can’t catch our dinner if you keep chewing on the lures.”
Otabek had always had a bit of a gentle disposition towards animals. In fact, if someone looked in the right place, they could easily find a small collection of teddy bears in his apartment. It wasn’t because of a weird...interest or anything. They were mostly given to him from fans and his sister, he had a hard time parting with them. Bears were always incidentally his favorite animal (or maybe not so incidentally?)
So it was of no surprise when he happened to find a cat lurking around the neighborhood, that he decided that he needed to help it. He normally did homework on these days but...the sun was shining so bright, he couldn’t help but get outside at least for a bit. Which led him to finding this cat and trying to approach it. He wanted to see if it had a collar or anything on that would indicate that it was owned by someone. From the looks of it, however, it was not.
Which....ultimately led to a game of cat and mouse, with the cat being in the wrong position. If he couldn’t find an owner, then he could at least do the right thing and take it in until he could get it to a veterinarian and maybe to a shelter.
One thing had led to another, dipping and chasing the little four legged escape artist all over one end of town. It wasn’t even keen on hiding itself, just keen on keeping itself out of reach of Otabek’s grasp. Which eventually led them down to a small lake of sorts, where kids were running around the shore, couples were having picnics, and everyone else was simply minding their own business and enjoying the gentle breeze that bounced off the lake’s surface.
The cat had decided to move down a small deck and sat there, right behind a male in all black. Most people would probably criticize the young man for wearing all dark colors, but Otabek didn’t have much say, since most of his wardrobe were dark colors as well. However, judging by the cats behavior, it seemed that Otabek had found its owner, much to his relief. He had felt content enough to simply walk away from the pair...
...That is until the young man, very ungracefully, fell onto the deck with a loud thud, startling Otabek completely.
“Ah...” Awkwardly approaching, Otabek moved over to the man on the ground, wondering why he had even fallen when he was just standing there? The cat didn’t seen phased, was this a common occurrence?
