boy's working on empty, is that the kinda way to face the burning heat? I just think about my baby. I'm so full of love I could barely eat, there's nothing sweeter than my baby. “  six  months  is  a  long  time ,  I  thought  it  was  only  polite  to  ask  if  someone  was  actual  competition ,  ”  he looked over at her and smirked ,  “  but  you’re  the  same  old  kieran ,  huh ?  ”   josh didn’t mind one bit ,  that suited him perfectly .

     they  made  their  way  to  the  car  and  it  wasn’t  long  until  the  two  were  inside . ‘  you  ask  that  as  if  you  don’t  always  have  competition . ‘ it  wasn’t  as  if  kieran  waited  around  for  josh  to  show  up  again  although  kieran  never  really  cared  much  when  it  came  to  the  relationships  they  had .  everything  was  mostly  just  to  pass  time . 

josh scoffed ,  “  you  can’t  call  it  competition  if  I  always  win ,  kieran .  ”  it wasn’t as if he ever expected them to be single ,  after all ,  he was far from that while he was travelling ,  but he wanted to know if anybody was actually capable of holding kieran’s attention for long enough to deprive josh of themselves during his time here .

    this  man  meant  very  little  to  the  both  of them . his  life  meant  nothing  and  the  two  of  them  would  walk  away  from  this  without  a  care  in  the  world .  the  man  would  be  forgotten  about  by  morning ,  or  earlier .  kieran’s  lips  seemed  to  tip  up  as  she  watched  him  before  her  eyes  fell  on  the  man  again .  she  had  a  feeling  he  didn’t  expect  his night  to  end  quite  like  this . ‘  shall  we  ?  ‘  kieran  eventually  asked ,  offering  her  hand  to  josh . 

he pulled out a handkerchief from his inside pocket and wiped the finger prints from the knife ,  before dropping it to the side of the other ,  it wasn’t worth pocketing .  josh turned back to kieran ,  brightening up once again and taking their hand in his own ,   “  we  shall ,  ”  the man purred ,  quickly opting for linking kieran’s arm around his own .  they made their way back to the main street where his car was waiting ,  he opened up the door for his counter part and gestured inside ,  before sliding in beside them ,  “  tell  me ,  do  I  have  some  competition  this  time  around ?  ”

     holland  couldn’t  help  but  grin  at  the  reaction  sam  got  when  it  came  to  his  children . ‘  we’re  good , ‘  holland  hummed  , ‘  there’s  a   plate  for  you  if  you’re  hungry . ‘  holland  moved  to  get  up ,  reaching  to  gather  the  plates  to  put  in  the  sink  as  the  kids  seemed  to  immediately  dive  in  to  catching  their  father  up  about  their  day . 

sam nodded ,  offering a quiet thanks as he plucked the plate from the fridge and uncovered it to stick in the microwave .  he turned back to face the kids and holland ,  nodding along to what his kids said before rushing off to play before dessert was ready .  sam chuckled ,  the novelty of his early night return wore off real quick .  he grabbed two beers from the fridge and slid one over to holland ,  “  how  are  ya ,  darlin’ ?  ”

  kieran  didn’t  think  anything  of  it  at  first .  it  was  a  busy  city  and  a  busy  bar .  it  was  hard  to  walk  anywhere  without  colliding  into  another  but  it  seemed  as  if  the  man  wasn’t  going  to  take  josh’s  half -  assed  apology  without  making  a  big  deal  out  of  it . her  eyes  narrowed  and  it  wasn’t  so  much  out  of  concern  or  even  worry ,  she  knew  josh  could  handle  his  own ,  but  maybe  it  was  for  more  selfish  reasons  that  the  two  were  being  interrupted  for  this  guy  to  swing  his  dick  around  and  act  like  he  had  any  real  power  here . 

she  surprisingly  kept  her  mouth  shut  even  despite  the  comment  that  fled  from  the  other’s  mouth  but  her  movement  was  subtle .  a  simple  twitch  of  her  head  as  it  drifted  behind  her .  josh  wasn’t  wrong .  kieran  was  capable  of  taking  care  of  herself  but  josh  got  to  the  guy  first  .  ‘  i  think  this  is  the  part  where  you’re  going  to  realize  no  one  is  going  to  come  to  help  you  . ‘  she  seemed  to  pause  before  continuing ,  ‘ but  i  do  love  watching  him  work  though  so … ‘  

they were in a fairly secluded area ,  josh could and would always get away with murder ,  even if it was actually broad daylight ,  however ,  so that back alley in the middle of the night didn’t produce any sort of cover for him .  he looked back to kieran ,  aroused by her own amusement but trying to focus on what he was doing ,  though he wasn’t half as pissed as he had been before .  he looked back to the man ,  who was now definitely panicking ,  but still an asshole , who’s life meant exceedingly little to josh or kieran .  he buried the blade a little deeper ,  twisting it a little and pushing it further up into his frame .  a gasp left the man’s lips and fell down ,  encouraging josh to take a step back ,  “  I’d  say  next  time ,   pick  your  battles ,  but  there’s  definitely  no  chance  of  a  next  time ,  not  for  you  at  least .  ”

     amusement  seemed  to  touch  kieran’s  features  as  they  looked  back  at  josh ,  ‘ i  like  your  accent  plenty .  ‘  there  was  really  no  denying  that .  ‘  want  to  skip  to  the  good  part  then , ‘  kieran  hummed  as  they  moved  to  stand ,  grabbing  their  jacket , ‘  noted . ‘ 

“  what’s  not  to  like ?  ”  josh replied simply ,  rubbing his lips together and smirking as kieran finally gave in .  the two ventured out the door of the bar ,  and josh immediately collided with another .  he muttered a half assed apology but that didn’t seem to suit the stranger very well .  he tilted his head to the side when the guy grabbed a handful of his shirt ,  “  maybe  you  should watch  where  you’re  going ,  ”  josh smirked ,  head dropping a fraction to hide his amusement ,  before his gaze was brought back to kieran .

the guy seemed to notice his shift and redirected his attention ,  kieran didn’t need his help ,  but the disrespectful comment forced josh’s brows to lift ,   “  I’d  watch  your  tongue ,  she’ll  have  it  out  of  your  throat  before  you  finish  your  sentence .  ”  the guy’s head snapped around ,  “  did  you  just  threaten  me ,  pretty  boy ?  ”  he pulled a knife from his jacket and josh rolled his eyes .  what followed could only be described as a pathetic attempt at a guy trying to seem bigger than he was ,  stronger than he was ,  generally more impressive than he was .  josh easily overpowered him ,  bringing the guy to his knees and driving his own knife into his ribs ,  “  who’s  pretty  now ?  ”

   riley’s  lips  twitched  but  they  didn’t  respond  right  away  as  they  finally  moved  from  their  spot  before  following  after  the  older  man . ‘  i  have  something  i  have  to  do  but  after ,  yes . ‘ 

“  looking  forward  to  it ,  ”  nicky purred ,  trailing his finger under riley’s jaw .  he made his way indoors and ordered them both a drink ,  not bothering to pass any further comment till he placed the glass in his hand , “  how  long  do  I  have  you  right  now ?  ”

    ‘  see  ,  i  would  give  the  both  of  you  hot  chocolate  if  we  had  it  and  if  it  wasn’t  like  a  million  degrees  outside . ‘  holland  was  exaggerating  but  his  exaggerations  usually  got  a  giggle  or  two  out  of  the  kids  and  that  was  all  that  mattered .  ‘  so ,  how  about  if  you  eat  your  dinner ,  we  can  have  ice  cream ?  that  sounds  like  a  fair  deal  right  ?  ‘ 

samuel made his way indoors ,  tossing his keys into the bowl by the door and following the sound of holland’s compromise and his children’s laughter .  he smiled and hesitated in the door way ,  watching the kids polish off the remainder of their dinner with the promise of sweet treats to come .  “  three  of  my  favourite  faces ,  ”  he crooned ,  earning a cheer from his children ,  “  --  ah !  ”  he closed the distance to prevent his children from climbing out of the chair and thus disrupting dinner time .  he planted a kiss on each of their heads and patted holland on the shoulder as he made his way towards the fridge ,  “  how  are  we ?  ”

the two seemed to fall into a silence , one that Kieran was perfectly content with. they looked up when josh spoke again before offering a shrug , ‘ it’s going fine. I guess I can’t complain ‘

“ you can’t complain ?” he hummed , shaking his head , “ and to think , you usually like my accent enough that I don’t need to prompt you this much to talk .” he pulled out his wallet and paid for their drinks , “ you know where to find me when you’re done playing hard to get , princess .”

   that  almost  got  a  chuckle  out  of  kieran . ‘  i  mean ,  i  guess  if  that  makes  you  sleep  at  night . ‘ they  weren’t  going  to  give  josh  a  clear  answer  on  that  and  they  half  figured  that  josh realized  that . 

josh narrowed his eyes and glanced around ,  half expecting to see riley around here ,  he had tried to reach the other to let him know he was coming back to town ,  but it was more likely he’d bump into them before he got a response from them .  he brought his gaze back to kieran and sipped his drink ,  “  how’s  taking  over  daddy’s  empire  going ?  ”

     riley  seemed  to  hum  at  nicky’s  question  although  both  of  them  probably  knew  what  they  were  going  to  say . ‘  it  is . ‘ they  smirked  as  they  kept  their  eyes  on  nicholas . ‘  why ?  ‘  they  questioned , ‘  what  would  you  call  it  ? ‘ 

“  I’d  call  it   enjoying  our  sexual  activities ,  ”  nicky responded with a hum ,  tilting his head to the side ,  “  but  that’s  fine ,  you  can  keep  petting  my  ego  to  get  what  you  want ,  however  you  wanna  look  at  it  .  ”

    riley  was  a  very  different  person  behind  closed  doors  with  nicholas  than  they  were  out  there .  out  there ,  they  were  ruthless ,  people  were  scared  of  them  or  at  least  didn’t  look  twice  . a  grin  tugged  at  riley’s  lips , ‘  i  know  how  to  get  what  i  want  and  pet  your  ego  at  the  same  time . ‘ 

nicky nodded , tilting his head to the side , “ is that what you call it ?” he taunted , knowing this was anything but a loving relationship ; the two weren’t affectionate or sweet in anyway , it was animalistic , and delightful . nicky adored that people were as frightened as riley’s violence as they were frightened of his power , it made for a delicious sentiment when the two gave in to one another .

josh’s lips twitched , head cocking to the side , “ couple weeks —“ he paused , “ why ? you miss me last time ?” he’d done his best not to get sucked in by anybody here , he’d never had a place to call home but this was probably the closest to it .

     ‘  business , ‘  kieran  hummed  but  they  had  a  feeling  that  josh  wasn’t  going  to  divulge  that  information . the  look  wasn’t  lost   on  kieran  although  for  the  moment ,  they  seemed  to  pay  it  no  mind . ‘  can’t  exactly  complain . ‘  they  looked  back  at  josh , ‘  what  about  you  ? ‘ 

he pursed his lips , rather enjoying the hard to get direction kieran appeared to be taking . he stretched his legs and hummed , tipping his head to the side , “ I can’t complain , that’s for sure .”

nicky stepped closer , shameless when it came to the comfort of his own buildings , nobody would pay them much mind here , or at least , nobody had so far . the man smirked , humming quietly , “ I seem to remember something along the lines of ‘ please , can I cum ?’ and ‘ thank you ‘ afterwards — very polite indeed .”

josh’s lips twitched as he ordered a round for himself , and another for his counterpart , “ business , mostly . maybe pleasure too ,” he shamelessly let his eyes drink in kieran’s appearance for the second time , “ how have you been ?”
