i’ve thought about how i want to infodump to people about random stuff in dolls, but i realized i can just do that on tumblr

so heres me talking about random stuff in the spelldon (mostly of details that can go unnoticed). i’ll do a post on valentine later, and in general, i want to do these types of posts with my other dolls as well.

so let’s get started! i think most people know by know (from annalise lao’s ig story) that spelldon has a cool design on the back of his head, but i have not see many people talk about his multiple ear piercings. he also has a printed ribbon on the tops of his jacket to mimic studs

next off is his belt; it has little drawings on it, and i’m pretty sure it’s related to earth magic (i forgot the actual term). it has a removable chain as well. towards down, his pants are printed with a bunch of doodles. as i mentioned in a previous post, one of these is “V+S,” and we learn from his diary that he doodled that absentmindedly. there’s also doodles like the word “WITCH” because i too like to write occupations onto my pants. also, he has cuffs on his sleeves, whcih is always nice.

finally, the bottom of his shoes is a spider web, and right down below, it’s a little hard to see, is a spider dangling from that very web.

Chocolate covered coffee beans are real they’re really good!! A bit strong, if you’re not a fan of coffee you probably won’t like them tho

i haven’t seen anyone post valentine’s and spelldon’s diaries yet, and i know that if i hadn’t gotten the dolls, i would’ve been desperate to see any text from it, so i’ve decided that i’ll post simple pictures of it

if you are able to stay patient, i’d recommend to continue waiting. there’s probably someone on twitter who already properly scanned these LOL

i have to say, i really adore these, i actually like these characterizations better than the original comics. they do a good job of allowing them to be silly without being overblown.

i also really like how spelldon’s diary isn’t JUST his romance with valentine. it makes sense for valentine that his dairy is primarily focused on that (he already is introduced with all his story + his diary is still a continuation of his character arc anyways) and i was a little scared spelldon would just be that, valentine’s love interest, but he has his own little plot, and his diary isn’t just a different perspective of valentine’s diary, it’s its own thing.

also, i was surprised to see casta actually mentioned AND have her being in actual scenes. i was honestly expecting her to only be indirectly mentioned or something, so to see her shine again is nice

finally, can someone tell me… are chocolate covered coffin (coffee [?]) beans… real? i literally have never heard of that WHAT IS THAT

YIP YIP MY DOLLS CAME TWO HOURS AGO AND IM ONLY NOW POSTING ABOUT IT

i had to reorganize my shelf a little and move some dolls around, i’m at a point now where all my dolls can’t fit in this little corner. dont know if i’ll be moving these two to a different area; i want to make like two shelves of my “favorite” dolls and then my other dolls

i’ll rant now a bit about them:

1. valentine’s quality is actually pretty good. his pants are a nice fabric with a “weaved” design rather than printed (unlike spelldon :[ ) and his vest, mesh undershirt, and jabot are all separate. his jabot is tied with a ribbon and has a singular tag holding it in place (which only goes through the mesh shirt thankfully, meaning that it won’t leave holes since both fabrics are meshes)

2. speaking of tags, spelldon’s jacket was held in place with tags, and unlike valentine, it was regular fabrics! whyyy!! his shirt is also a printed fabric, and with how printed fabrics work, it’s even more obvious where the holes are (at least the foil design helps camouflage it…) this is really only my one complaint though

3. speaking of spelldon’s jacket (yes i’m doing the same starting sentence as the last point), its material isn’t… the *best*, it’s just fine. however, it has cuffs, a physical pin sewn on (the little coffin with his skullette), zipper trim, AND stud trim on the shoulders, so i’m overall happy with it

4. kind of a spoiler for the diaries, but spelldon mentions that he started to doodle his and valetine’s initials on his pants. and if you look at the print of his pants here, you can see the phrase “V+S,” which is just such a cute detail!

5. lastly, they have ankle articulation. i saw some people thinking they wouldnt bevause for some reason their listing says they have only 11 points of articulation, but they have 13 in total (head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles)
