but did you survive?
do you realize what you've done bringing up your childhood brick again
the brick is normal, in fact it's so normal that it isn't even interesting, it actually makes me more boring because of how normal it is
but it doesn't matter anyway as i have a plushie now, because apparently the bar for "normal" is feeling like you're under surveillance 24 hours a day inside your own fucking home
There should be a blog that has the sole purpose of reblogging artworks that were the product of a lot of time and passion but received no attention due to lack of visibility.
I see a lot of posts telling artists "don't care what other people think, only make art for yourself!!1!", and while I agree with the normal sentiment that creating art purely for external validation isn't conducive to happiness in the long run, I think it's also completely normal and common to struggle with the instinctive feeling of disappointment that you've poured a ton of effort into making something you can be proud of, only to feel as if no one cares when you share it (even if rationally you know that isn't the reason). These are two normal statements that are not mutually exclusive.
An artwork only getting a handful of notes is never a reflection of its quality. Unless it's by a popular artist or for a large fandom, breaking containment is almost entirely down to luck.
So, what if there was a specific blog that served as a kind of central place you could follow to be to be shown a variety of art on your dashboard that you would otherwise have never known existed. People could submit links to artwork (either their own or with permission) that didn't get any exposure and therefore no chance to be seen, and then the blog would reblog the original so it can be discovered by more people (and maybe double as an archive). It'd be called "undiscovered-art" or "art-hidden-gems" or something. There could also be one for writing.
I don't actually know if this is even a good idea. I was trying to think of the "most normal thing" I could add to this post that was also something I'd never come up with before to prove you wrong and that I do have normal opinions instinctively, and somehow this was unironically my first thought, and then I immediately got hyperfixated on whether this concept would work and forgot whatever point I was trying to make in the first place.
Well the cool creek by my house froze over this weekend...
