Significance of Children's Day
Every child is Unique, and possess one or the other hidden talents. It is the responsibility of the parents, teachers, and the society to mould a child in a proper way so that the child becomes very powerful and a good citizen for the nation.
Every year Children's Day is celebrated on 14th November in India to commemorate the birthday of the nation's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru who was affectionately called as "Chacha Ji ".
Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889 in Allahabad in British India. His parents were Motilal Nehru and Swarup Rani Thussu .
He had once said that, " The Children of today will make the India tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.
After Nehru's death in 1964 , India began to celebrate his birthday as Children's Day , since he was so much affectionate towards Children . Initially , Children's Day was observed in the country on 20th November as declared by the United Nations.
On this day in most of the schools, the children are allowed to come by wearing colourful dresses, teachers and non- teaching staff will entertain the children with various cultural programmes and sports activities.
