I said I wouldn’t use this account anymore but idk where else to put this
Since my dog passed this year, I’ve watched so many animals die from people around me and from YouTubers I watch, and it’s been such a devastating string of events. My friends dog passed shortly after my own, and then I got into Umamusume only for Grass Wonder and Haru Urara to go, Markiplier and Smosh are the YouTube channels I watch the most and seeing Henry and Zelda pass dug up the feelings I hadn’t quite processed from my own pet, and now, with Marbles passing, who was a little black chihuahua just like my dog and about the same age, I can’t even scroll through social media without sobbing over posts about him.
I had my dog for most of my life, and I couldn’t even be there when she passed because I was supposed to be home in a month, back from college, but instead I found out in a phone call and drove home immediately. Before she went, I honestly didn’t know if I could have made it for long without her. I had her with me in college and the entire time I dreaded her passing and if I would be able to handle it, since she was already 4 years older than the age vets predicted she would pass. Somehow she made it, and after i graduated I had my parents take her home with the promise that’d I’d be home soon too.
It took me months before I could even rehome her ashes into the memorial box I had for her. I had nightmares for months about her passing when I wasn’t even there for it. I buried my feelings into doing Art Fight and while it helped me get through it, I never really let myself go through my feelings about any of it.
I don’t know what my point is in writing this. Something about grief is weird and the universe lines things up in strange patterns, that I want everyone to hold their pets a little tighter, give them a little extra treat, even if you don’t think they’ll go anytime soon, just because you can. I feel so sad for everyone who has lost their beloved pets this year, I hope next year brings everyone nothing but happiness and lots of love from their animals
