Midnight Strolls - Mycroft and Dusty
It was late. She was late. How could she have been so stupid? After classes had ended, and after an adequate meal, Dusty had wandered to the library for some down time. There had been a few topics of choice she wouldnât mind reading about, that and there was a novel she had wanted to read. Of course, she lost track of time, was forgotten, and now had to rush back to her room without getting caught.
Easier said than done. Trouble and danger was far from her norm, seeing as how her brother was the headmasterâs TA. He would know if she so much as placed a hair out of line. Stepping quietly and choosing her steps carefully, Dusty listened to the approaching footsteps. She crouched into the shadows to allow the night shift professor by without notice. The few books in her arms shifted off balance, and she quickly shoved them back into place, but it had made too much sound.
With a soft sigh, Dusty stood up and stepped into the light. âGood evening, Professor. Apologies for startling you.â
"What are you doing out this late, Miss McCarty?" He raised an eyebrow and took in her appearance, noting the books she was holding. "You didn't startle me. I'm merely making my rounds."
Slowly lowering his wand, he gestured her to come forward, a small smile appearing on his face. "So...what caused you to come out this late? As I'm aware, you're not on rounds this evening?"
