Unit 3 evaluation
The task we were set was to make a short film for new breed media things that we needed to consider in our short film were
The target audience
The age and type of people that it will be aimed at
Purpose why it was made
The platforms it would be screened on
Will it be shown on TV YouTube or streamed ect
The reason that we produced the short film was to communicate using verbal, written and visual communication techniques to address our audience about the issue with in our film it contains methods to link with our audience’s everyday life but still has some that don’t but that are still possible to happen
The original idea that I had was to have a group of friends that are abducted by there so called close friend who decides to test his new found drug ‘de bomb’ on them this drug is still not done and he tested it on them it has major side effects which not only changes the way they think, act and appear it also causes blood loss and internal bleeding which leads to a end of life for the victim or user of this drug they awake chained to a chair in pitch black darkness no knowing where they are they shout for help and in doing so notice that they are all in the same room and help one and another break free from the chairs and escape the room they then hunt down the maker and ex friend of the drug to find out what has happened to them and in finding out that they may die they must rush to get some sort of antidote to get rid of the drug out of there system and stay alive
My planning went okay but at first it was very unorganized but a few days of mess and cluttered work I decided to sort it out and make it more organized and the days we were actually recording were pretty hectic we struggled to get together and meet up at the same time and it wasn’t the easiest to get to Little Eaton when we actually did get there the filming was rushed but we managed to finish it in the end
The strengths that we had were creative ideas and a we were fast at changing the ideas up due to a problem with the actors in the film so we changed the idea and made the idea about two brothers that are abused by there step father and after being pushed too far one brother reacts and kills the step father the other brother oblivious of what has been going on come in and sees the body and tells his brother to go and get changed and clean him self up after cleaning up he is remembered about a murder he committed before and being unstable loses it and kills his brother due to insanity after doing this he is trying to get over his brothers death and turns to drugs he is swatted by the police and the film ends with a gun stand off
I really enjoyed making this short film it was a funny and amazing experience that I will be doing again which I cannot wait for however I feel that we should be able to pick our own groups and I found it a little awkward being in a group that you don’t always speak to yes it was a good what to get to know them but it took a while to get the ideas rolling I also like the idea of our own groups to be comfortable with friends and have a blend of ideas that we all like
Problems we faced:
We had problems with the first idea where the one of the actors the main actor was a little shy and had a problem with social encounters and didn’t want to be filmed she ended up not wanting to be our main character so we needed a new idea which is where we edited the original idea to make it use as little actors as possible and make the film nearest the same as it was and easiest to be changed and edited in the shortest amount of time possible
We also had problems with the editing side at first the clips we reordered wouldn’t transfer over to the Mac we then managed to do that but couldn’t import the clips in to adobe premier and then we had to wait for help, we got help and managed to finally get the clips across and managed to edit it together
