what irks me the most ist the reveals that are not reveals. this isn't a writing situation where you got hints and could feel clever, you LITERALLY SAW WHAT WAS HAPPENING and then the game begins to gaslight you. And also can't fucking stop telling you what someone else JUST TOLD YOU IN DETAIL seconds before. who is this made for?

anyway i really liked getting into the hot spring because i don't think i'll ever do that in real life.

also again i can't believe I am saying this but the fandom cares too much about the men in this game as well, but at least this time it is entirely to blame on the writing of the game alsdjlasdjlasd

slept on it and i can't believe I, someone who falls into the selfmade trap of "care more about the guy and barely-there gay subtext than anything else" too many fucking times, am saying that Kojima is too much in love with the men in his story when the focus is SO CLEARLY somewhere else, namely the trafficked and experimented on pregnant women, and instead we get: "is it sam's kid? no! oh his wife cheated on him. oh wait, she didn't! oh, she did? no she didnt! omg it IS sam's kid!" in a quadruple cross sth sth PLUS dragging another ruggedy man into it with a cobbled-together background story to tie him to Sam's wife (who also looks like that guy from the other Kojima game???) and letting Higgs return for maximum man pain on screen.

i would still kill for my daughterTM but it was absolutely not necessary to have a very lengthy and garbled story to explain that she is actually my biological daughter; considering that Sam barely speaks anyway (and what was that about? did they only have so many voice snippets of Norman Reedus from the first game? sure, he barely spoke there either, but some grunts and half-answers didn't even seem to fit the conversation jeez), letting him die in the initial attack and playing Fragile would've been more interesting or...anything really. i love him your honour but not enough.

can you tell i never played a single MGS i bet people who weathered those were prepared better for this mess.
