The Animal Crossing series is dear to me. I grew up with it and I will play it for as long as I can! Follow my journey as I share moments from gameplay that stood out to me as well as reflective blog posts about the impact the series have had on me and where the newest addition to the series New Horizons is taking us. Let’s share our love for Animal Crossing!

The first aurora borealis on my New Horizons Island!

I miss the cozy little igloos from the old games. The soft bubbling sounds from the giant chowder pot and the warm lighting made it seem so welcoming

Resetti won’t ever catch me!

Just after the 2.0 update, I reset my New Horizons island. I felt frustrated with my original island and I restarted it in the middle of a terraforming, uh, nightmare. Animal Crossing has always been a source of comfort for me and I didn’t want the new features, particularly the design freedom, in New Horizons to take over the cozy game Animal Crossing is meant to be.

I’m happy to report that I don’t feel any regret in resetting and I’ve decided to just...take it slow. I don’t have a dream address to share yet, but so far I’ve upgraded my museum, Able Sisters have set up shop, and almost all of my villager plots are filled. I can’t wait for Brewster to show up; I haven’t visited the cafe in game yet. :)

Perhaps try to go through the update at a steady pace. Don’t rush through it like a speedrunner! (Unless you are one.) It’s so easy to get burnt out. Take your time and enjoy the game! That’s what I’m trying to do. :)

You know, I'd seen someone say the update would arrive on Brewster's birthday, but now that I got his photo from Blather's, I see that Brewster's birthday was on Oct. 15!
