This poem came to me in a moment when I was thinking about death and the paradoxes of beginnings and endings.
The part “Everything that was simply becomes everything that is” was the first thing that I wrote and to be honest I don’t even think it makes sense grammatically, but it makes sense in a way that brings me comfort.
And I hope it can do the same for you as well.
If you wouldn’t listen to someone’s advice, don’t listen to their criticism.
Recently I’ve read the etymology of the word spirit and I found out that it comes from the latin word spirare which means breathe.
I was fascinated by this and I was immediately reminded of the practice of meditation and how paying close attention to the breath can bring a feeling of comfort and ease.
The breath is often neglected and we usually forget that we’re even breathing. But it is an essential principle of our lives and I believe that forming a strong connection with it can help us tremendously.
In a sense, the breath really is our spirit.
