#give ava (and sara) a break 2k21
I heard there's a legends of tomorrow discord? Or avalance? And I needed to be on it since last week. Anyone have a link?
It wouldn't be Avalance kiss if it wasn't dramatic.
Look, if we gave repressed superpowered ladies SPACE to process their FEELINGS and gave them HUGS sometimes, maybe we wouldn’t be dealing with all these APOCALYPSES, JUST SAYING.
You know what I love about the legends? It's that none of them are the 'damsel in distress' they can all hold their own in a fight and don't rely on each other in that way, sure they're careless and make mistakes but you never think something like "Sara will come save them" or "Mick will come save them" it's more of a "whatever one of the other legends may help or not, they'll be fine either way."
It's the 'got their backs but ain't their hero' type of dynamic I love.
#still not over that wink
To those who say that Yennefer is reduced to nothing more than a common women wanting a baby trope then I don't think your paying attention to the dialogue. It not about just her wanting a baby and being nothing more that a mother staying at home. Whenever she is pushed for wanting this choice she gives three main reasons:
1: When she say "because they took that choice from me and I want it back". This stems from that lie she believed the brotherhood told her. She was told she was special and can be powerful and have everything she wanted through her power. ( which they hold her back from believing her power (chaos) is to strong for her to control) She plays by their rules turns "pretty" gives up having a baby and ascends. Only to spend 30 years realizing its a lie. As she says i spend decades helping murders and rapists keep their crown. She see institutions as nothing more than joke and corrupt. So one way she can gain some power back and say "fuck you" to them is by taking back the one thing they "stoled".
2 When she says "I wanted to be important to someone". This comes her early life at home. She was treated horrible by her own parents, the ones who are supposed to love you. Even her mentor when she leaves to train as mage treats with conditions. As a mages she never reaches that level of "power" at this point of her life. Shes never known unconditionally love and has never had that kind of connection. They best way she sees to get this is by having a child of her own. She comes close with Geralt only to think its a lie too because of the wish.
3 legacy. This whole world is based around having a legacy from Empires to having an heir. Its about having some lasting impression on the world. Yen thinks she will achieve this by becoming a powerful mage only to be disappointed. (Again brotherhood holding her back, as we see in the end she capable of much more powerful magic than most sorceress). Which was she then turn to maybe having a family will fill that void.
We also have to remember we are still in the beginning of her journey. Those who have read to books and played the video games knows what she becomes. End of season one is Tipping Point for her. I think next season we will really see her grow into who she is "destined" to be 😉.
Spoiler alert
She does check all these boxes one way or another and guess what , its not by having a baby.
*quotes not exact
“We’ve all had our traumas. Didn’t turn any of us into psychopaths.”
If you play add me
the avengers women when they saw peter parker on the floor
Okay first LOT is going to gives us Avalance drama no matter what its a tv show.
Second well i believe Ava is totally wrong and I'm sure she will come to realize that. Her and Sara break up wasn't really about the creatures but of Ava own insecurities. We have to remember Ava is still dealing with a fact that she is a clone. She wants to think of her self as HUMAN and nothing else. She has no real parents, childhood and most of her memories are fake.
The only real thing she has and earned herself was being director of the time bureau and part of that was even programed into her. So when she feels like sara left her to hang, she lets her own insecurities take over rather than trust Sara. She hangs on to only thing that really feels like hers. Being the director of the time bureau.
I bet they make up in the next couple of episodes.
