Why can’t this be my mom? And why can’t she have this debilitating condition where her neck uncontrollably spasms in a rotating motion just like this. And then she could feed me while I bathe, after shampooing my hair tendrils tenderly of course, and all the while her neck is just spinning, spinning out of control. We can all dream I suppose.

Linda Manz in Days of Heaven, the 1978 American romantic drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick.

Much of the film would be shot during “magic hour”, which Almendros called

"a euphemism, because it’s not an hour but around 25 minutes at the most. It is the moment when the sun sets, and after the sun sets and before it is night. The sky has light, but there is no actual sun. The light is very soft, and there is something magic about it. It limited us to around twenty minutes a day, but it did pay on the screen. It gave some kind of magic look, a beauty and romanticism".

I am VERY excited to announce that I will be hosting a rare screening of one of my favorite movies of all-time, TIMES SQUARE.

Please join me Saturday, July 7th, 2:00pm at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City. The screening is part of the CBGB Festival.

I’m working on some other stuff that weekend as part of the festival. I’ll share info about that soon, but I just found out we have secured a 35mm print of Times Square and I’m SO psyched! There are only two 35mm prints of this movie left in existence. We got one!! I am beyond honored CBGB’s have given me a chance to share it with you.
