Today, let's discuss lunar myths, beliefs, and practices from the Philippines. 🌙✨️
As humans, we are all drawn to the beauty of the moon. Every culture has practices and stories associated with this celestial object that illuminates the dark night sky.
Are there any other lunar beliefs and practices you know of in the Philippines?

It just bothers me that significant pre-colonial societies had relatively loose notions of gender, sexuality, and heteronormativity and it was the imposition of Western colonial systems that informed strict binaries in those spheres but now… now when post-colonial societies are still stuck in their previously forced yet regressive dichotic norms and the West has only recently begun shedding its entrenched ignorance in the name of social progression, it has also somehow simultaneously become the champion of forward-thinking beliefs. And that’s just bullshit on so many levels.
There's nothing like 300 posts in my draft folder to get me back into Tumblr. Get ready for many quotes that spoke to the me in 2016.

such a good girl!
It’s the middle of the night and Anju caused a commotion while pawing and pouncing around our dark apartment. When I turned on the light, I realized she was trying to catch a goddamn SPIDER the size of my fucking palm. THE SIZE OF MY PALM! My sweet baby dog killed it after I showed her where it crawled off to. Then, she wanted to play with its corpse.
Once I caught her sniffing at the arm of our couch. I couldn’t figure out why until I realized there was an ant on it. ONE FUCKING ANT. This dog was able to sense (smell?) it from across the (albeit small) room.
Hunting dogs are the fucking best.
Anju won’t be sleeping in her crate at night ever again.
Update: It’s been 11 months since this post and we still haven’t had her sleep in her crate at night. The fear of spiders is real.

Tony: I have a gift for you
Me: Is it diamonds?
Tony: No, better.
Me: It has to be a dog then.
Tony: No...
Me: ...IS THAT A TACOSAURUS?????
@skookumthesamoyed do you remember Anju? 😄
My husband ran into someone who recognized Skookum from here!
I think that’s the third sighting that’s stemmed from the blog or his Instagram, it’s so cool. I wish I had been with them, he said the person was very nice but I would have loved to figure out who you are.
Anyway, hello fellow seattle friend! From Sandy and Skookum 😊
It was me! 😄😄😄 And it was my second Skook sighting!! The first was at the dog park maybe last year or so. I didn't think to take a picture of our puppers together until after we parted. I didn't want to weird out your husband with my excitement over a Skookum-spot. Anju is not usually so calm around unknown men and some dogs but she was so good with them. 😊
