i know i’ve been gone from here for quite a while, so i’ll be adding aileen to my multi and dropping majority of my threads to start over. unfortunately i’ve accumulated threads from almost a year ago. hopefully by adding aileen to my multi and starting over, i will be able to pick up activity.

you’ll be able to find aileen here @mystiokinesis. i always liked the url better, so it made sense to move it over. thanks for all the love on this blog and hopefully i’ll see you all over at the multi ♥

i suppose this was bound to happen at some point, even though i tried to avoid it by not mentioning it at all. i wanna write and majority of the day i feel like writing, until i finish work and have had dinner. not to mention weekends have been filled with mainly relaxing and also decorating this house and just general household tasks. i’m going on a semi-hiatus, i wanna write when i feel like writing but i’ve seen myself become increasingly more selective and i don’t think that’s fair to my partners. i’ll continue to work on my drafts, but hopefully will no longer feel the pressure to post something.

her hands are balled into fists by her sides, clenching so hard the knuckles on her hands are starting to turn white. she was angry, so angry that even though she had a good idea of where lamia was, that she would find her, aileen couldn’t go at this alone. she wanted to, by all means she wanted to. protecting her siblings from what might come from this was the only thing she had ever wanted and now she wouldn’t even be able to do so. but who was she kidding to think that she could fight lamia if alabaster had difficulties fighting their half-sister? 

aileen wanted nothing better than punching a wall, fight until she could no longer lift her weapons, but it was the middle of the night and everyone was still sleeping. she wasn’t even supposed to be here, the hunters were far away but aileen couldn’t stay away from lou ellen after finding out about tracking lamia. “you know lou, maybe i’ve lived my life trying to hide from this responsibility. maybe i shouldn’t return from this, if that means none of you have to go through it,” she shrugged before turning to face her sister. climbing in the bed next to her and curling up on her side. for so many years she had tried to protect those who would now need to put their life in danger. something she couldn’t protect them from. lying in her sister’s bed, it felt like old times, when they grew up together at camp, even if that was only a few years. it was funny how now, it was lou ellen comforting aileen rather than the other way around.

“i’ve had my fair share of unfortunate encounters. this is just being cautious.” layre explained after lighting the last candle. “as for ritual - you wound me, child. this is my home. and i tend to establish wards for my own protection. and yours - as you’re getting popular these days.” that was punctuated by a smirk and soft giggle that felt like it emanated from underground. “i wouldn’t want your pursuers suddenly breaking in to my home.”

“i have my ways. and trust this,” she scoffed, “i am the boss of me.” she smiled from ear to ear, then padded towards the pantry to pour two cups of her freshly brewed tea. she took a sip from one, then passed the other cup to the town visitor. “here, drink this. it’ll wear off the restraints. apologies. i didn’t think you were the negotiating type and so i had to establish my precautions.” she sat on the rattan chair across aileen and sipped her drink again with her smile widening over the steamy brim. “it is not my goal to drive you away - though i do care about maintaining this lovely balance a little more than your existence – and so you might want to help me decide if you are going to be a hindrance or a catalyst to my aspirations.” her statement was hardly scornful, and was genuinely interested about the child’s purpose in coming to this town. “my name is layre. what’s yours?” 

she looked around, trying to figure out if there was anything familiar about the wards the other was placing, or anything else. surprisingly, they did look somewhat familiar, but aileen couldn’t place them. not without properly looking at them. an eyebrow raised at layre calling her a child, she supposed she may look one but she was never a fan of it being used against her like this. “i’m not a child,” aileen grumbled. although she wasn’t a fan of the restraints, or the unknown wards, aileen couldn’t argue with the other’s logic. she probably would have done the same after all. 

“and how do i know you’re to be trusted?” aileen questioned, eyeing the other as she drank the tea. aileen wasn’t naive enough to trust the stranger blindly. after a few seconds, aileen finally moved the cup to her lips and took a careful sip after, of course, sniffing the the drink for any obvious potions. she felt her body relax, the restraints being removed as she continued to sip the tea, but it didn’t get her to properly relax. she was on edge, taken in by a stranger, reminded of those following her. “and what would those aspirations be, anyway?” aileen set her cup down in front of her and rolled her shoulders, happy to discover she could move freely again. a few seconds passed before she finally continued, “aileen.. my name’s aileen santos. i’m here on a quest, ‘daughter of hecate finds her roots’ being the main part why i’m here. i didn’t come here with the intention of bringing this place out of balance, but right now i can’t leave.” there were things she didn’t want to tell layre, but she also felt she was not in a position to pick and choose what to tell her. gods knew what she could do with those wards or any other things she may have placed.

“This has got to be a joke, right? There’s no such thing as demigods.” Ahn shook his head in disbelief, despite him possessing psychometry, but that’s still a different story, “I mean, I’ve only read books about them actually, but only just tiny bits. I believe when I see it.” 

Because he’s that lazy, but he chose not to say it out loud. That’d be so awkward.

aileen raised her brow, the fact that he could see her had taken her off guard. the stranger could see through the mist, even if he couldn’t see everything. “well you best start thinking of a story then, for when people begin asking questions about you talking to yourself,” she scoffed. she didn’t tell just anyone about what she was, and she generally wasn’t a fan of her existence being drawn into question. 

a sigh left her lips as she rubbed her temples, before piercing purple eyes took him in. “i suppose my next comment is what will make you believe it? cause you’re seeing it right now.”

like the grey eyes of kids of athena and percy’s sea green eyes, the children of hecate have eye colours that are not completely ‘natural’. the eyes of children of hecate start off being purple, but depending on the kind of magic they are constantly using, their eyes can change colour over time. if a child of hecate is constantly using elemental spells like spells of hydrokinesis or atmokinesis their eyes will turn blue over time. 

since aileen not only uses her mystiokinesis but also her umbrakinesis, which manifests as tyrian purple in colour, her eyes have remained purple. there was a time, when she was practicing her healing spells that her eyes lightened to almost being lavender. but over time, her eyes have darkened again due to no longer focusing on one type of magic but instead utilising all her magical abilities. her eyes currently hold the colour of electric purple.

“what?” he swallowed dryly then, like someone had just snuffed out his only flicker of hope that this will go well. “well, i guess that’ll teach you not to charge towards any creature you have zero clue how to manage.” there was a mild wobble in his words, and he could tell his reserve was in the verge of crumbling but he drew in a sharp breath, knowing best to focus on whatever else he could do to manage such a crisis. “do you want the truth, or the one to make you feel better?” gesturing for her to lay still, he disappeared from the living room and ran to his bedroom, rummaging his cupboards and drawers for anything he could find useful to fix this problem. he laid everything in the en suite bathroom, then returned to the living room to scoop aileen from the sofa, “can you walk? i need to take you to the tub. you are lucky there are two surgeons in this house.”

“it came after me,” she protested softly, accompanied with a little shrug. she felt herself getting tired of fighting the pain, tired of staying awake. it had been an intense fight after all. she was just glad she only started feeling this way when she was at aiden’s place instead of the middle of nowhere. “just tell me,” she groaned as sat up slightly, enough to follow aiden leaving the room she was in. as soon as he left, her hands moved to where the bruising was, low whispers leaving her lips as she recanted a healing spell. aileen sighed in pain when after a few seconds barely anything had happened. she really had to start working on those healing spells if she ever wanted to master them. another sigh left her lips when aiden returned, but dread gripped her when he told her he needed to get her to the tub. was he actually going to operate on her? it was something she had never experienced and it somewhat scared her. did she happily jump into fights? yes. but for some reason the thought of surgery kept her from moving for a second. “are you.. are you going to cut me open?” she asked as she internally debated whether she should actually let him do that. unfortunately, without any healing magic or nectar, it was the only possibility. another sigh left her lips before she braced herself and slowly stood up. she tried to walk, gods knew she tried. “i told you i’m fine,” she tried again as she slowly limped towards the bathroom, but didn’t get passed aiden before she sagged to the floor.

“hey - i’m not contesting that.” he said calmly, still can’t be stopped from fussing over the injury aileen sustained on her torso. “but just stating the facts here, you’ve got a nasty bruise just across where your liver is.” he clicked his tongue, again his tone not even rising an octave, “possibly an internal bleeding.” gently, he nudged her shoulder backwards, urging her to lean against his sofa while he rummaged her own backpack. “so which one’s the nectar? because i can totally fix this my way - but i really don’t wanna cut you open in my uncle’s house. manang gloria will burst an aneurysm.”

aileen winced, chewing on her lower lip. it had been a while since she got hurt badly and didn’t have anything besides her own mediocre healing to help her. it would speed up the process but not as much as nectar or ambrosia would. “you won’t find any, aiden. i ran out days ago.” it had taken a while before she had realised her own weapons weren’t up for dealing with the creatures she encountered here. not like they did back in new york. she pushed her head against the headrest and let out a shaky breath. “it isn’t that bad, is it?” she began, she didn’t like the sound of being cut open, even if he was a doctor. she tried to sit up, protesting but it just made pain shoot through her body. she squirmed but quickly leaned against the sofa again. “i’ll heal.. i’m sure.” she was just a bit too tired to use her magic.

“i did the chasing thing when i was thirteen,” lou ellen sighed, shrugging. “got beat up ‘cause of it. got siphoned ‘cause of it. nearly died ‘cause of it.” she’d been missing alabaster and she’d stubbornly struck out on her own, trying to find him. instead, she’d found acolytes of the bane of magic. “i think i’ve done enough chasing, honestly.”

“what i haven’t done enough of, is practicing.” lou ellen figured she could admit it that easily. she finger gunned at her sister. “i mean, i could go from here to that tree over there. or from here to some of the other cabins. but that’s about it.”

aileen nodded at her sister’s words, genuinely glad to hear that she wasn’t planning on doing all of that again. “i’ll do the chasing from now on. if you ever need any help, just call on me and i’ll be there.”

she smiled at lou’s finger guns. “practice makes perfect, but there’s not much farther to go here. the difficult reality is that you won’t get to your full potential while at camp. there’s barely anywhere to go.” she really didn’t want her sister to leave the safety of camp, or the safety that new rome could provide, but it would be those situations where she would need to push herself that would propel her potential forward. it would always be a difficult to get to their full potential if they weren’t pushed, and even though chiron might say he did, he didn’t push their magical abilities. “but with practice, i’m sure you’ll be able to go a long way soon.”

so decided to make aileen ( on the left, just imagine the jacket being silver ) after she’s finally taken the plunge into dying her hair ( still not sure if hair dye would grow out ) plus for that same reason, one too many magic accidents ( nearly burning out on multiple occasions ) have left faint vein marks on her face. on the right is my oc bby ghoul eun byul who can be found over at @veniiviidiiamavii ( who would love to have pink hair but is aware that’s too identifiable ).
