Cricket was slowly falling back into place, despite the hesitation and knowledge that not all was right but it was getting easier to pretend otherwise. Wise words played in their head as they choose the right songs that made them feel calm and supported, providing a place for others to call in if they wished to share their stories with anyone else listening and know they were heard. They spoke here and there, mostly letting the music say all that they'd brought with them for the night before signing off and letting it fall into the next show soon enough.
No one followed them as of yet, usually it was a mix of songs that were put together by those at the station to cover the hours that weren't run by a host or dj. Cricket clicked off their board, resting in their chair for a moment with a flicker of a smile at being able to have made it through another show and feel more like themselves. as they glanced over in Safiya's booth, they saw that the other might have been moments away from falling asleep. It had him smiling a bit more then as they slowly cleaned up their station and head towards the door that separated them.
Safiya was their friend, had been for years, but they'd always been a little bit more than that when they were younger and drawn together inexplicably. Working together had given them a chance to reconnect, find their footing towards friendship again and Cricket could only hope that it would continue to work that way as they leaned down to pick up what had clattered to the ground. "You should get some sleep. The couch in the back office is the comfiest spot in here, much better than falling asleep at a desk," they spoke with a bit of a light laugh. "Do you want me to get you a coffee instead? Or I think Ronan left a red bull in the fridge."
At the very least her shift was over and Cricket was the only one around to see her little mishap. If there was one thing she knew about her friend, it was that they spoke only with concern and not even the slightest bit of mocking over catching her falling asleep on the job.
"I'm good," Safiya answered, feeling her eyes droop even as she rubbed them to try and wake herself up. "Red Bull and coffee will just fuck up my already amazing sleeping schedule and that couch will have me groaning about my back in a less than sexy way." She raised her eyebrows and threw a wink at her old friend. "Besides, work's over and now I just have to make it home in one piece, and my bed will be waiting for me." She stretched her arms out and yawned, swaying ever so slightly as she stopped to think about if maybe she should reconsider that spot on the couch. Cherry Heights wasn't that far away but it seemed like an entire universe away given her current state. "What about you? You headed home?"
