Annie Lai photographed different Chinese girls in their homes in London. Most of them leave their hometowns at young ages, they live and grow here, while trying to integrate into a completely different society. They often face the inevitable fate of returning to their hometowns eventually. Struggling with sense of belonging myself, Lai wanted to capture the strength and the fragility of each subject through the intimate settings of their homes.
