I'm 4 years old today! Today is the day I decided to take a chance and change my life. I thank God for his traveling mercies on this #weightloss journey... It certainly hasn't been easy. Aside from my physical look, the most significant difference has been how people treat me: I'm not just "sweet and funny," anymore. I'm not just "Karen's daughter" anymore. I don't have "just a #pretty face" anymore. I'm "beautiful" now. I'm "attractive/#sexy" now. And all of the qualities that I actually love about myself that I had to push forward in order to be noticed by you when I was 350lbs... Now I have to push even harder to be truly seen at 220lbs, because all you see now is a #sex object. And I'm still just as insecure about my body as I was 4 years ago. If not more so... Don't get me wrong: I am so grateful for my weight loss. I am especially thankful to my support system who have been SO AMAZING to me. But I wanted to take the time today to explain what it's REALLY like for me. I feel like someone needs the message. Weight loss is not magic, and social media stories ARE. My health problems may have stopped 4 years ago, but my "heart" problems were only just beginning... Anyway, be blessed today! ☺️ #MOOD #MorningThoughts #SelfImage #BigChick to #ThickChick

Let me tell you about my fabulous 1st day of being 25: this lady right here is my GodGranny! She was born on July 31. I was born on August 1. Every year she has a biiiig party for her birthday. But this year was special, because she turned 91 years young, AND her party was on MY birthday this year! So it was really OK that I made no plans, because I was able to spend the whole afternoon with her and "our" family on OUR day. It was lovely. I love her! And then I went to go see "Ant-Man" with my mama. That movie is GOOD! #MyKindOfTurnUp #BirthdayQueens #LeoLadies

In a few minutes, I won't be 24 anymore. And as I look back on this year, all I can do is sit back and stare in awe of what God has done: I sang for Kurt Schmoke, got published, GRADUATED LAW SCHOOL, took the bar exam, got a new place... And all that is just from April to now! In all, I've been truly blessed. But I've also gotten my feelings hurt (I also hurt some feelings). I've cried more times this year then probably ever. It's weird, but it's OK. I think this year's lesson for me was "let go and let God." But the sublesson was that letting go is not easy. Trusting God is NOT easy. But when you DO... Maaaannnn, listen. He can do some pretty cool ish if you just say "eff it. You got this, G." I have a feeling that 25 is gonna be pretty interesting for me... I'm excited!
