Writing project: Day 1

Yesterday I was talking to myself as usual and I thought that it may be a good idea to start writing something, anything. I told myself it would be great for my mental health and also it would be a way of not forgetting my English skills. English is not my first language, so everytime I don’t use English for a while it gets very difficult for me to use it again. I’m studying to become a translator so that is not something that I allow to happen to myself. My English abilities need to be LIT! Whatever, I commit myself to write at least a page of a day in English,  that way I would be able to practice my English so I does not get rusty and also it may be a way of decluttering my mind of a lot of thoughts that are just hunting me lately. I don’t expect no one to read this, it’s just for me and my mental health I guess. 

I remember that a couple of summers ago I used to spend almost all my nights here on Tumblr. I loved it. But since then I have not visited again this website until today. So I guess this is some kind of welcome back thing to me, some kind of ritual. I don’t know. Right now I just don’t know what to say anymore, no more inspiration (? So I0m just going to say good bye!. 

Tomorrow is going to be day 2, I hope I don’t forget to post.

-Me acabás de preguntar y te estoy respondiendo, no hisciste nada para merecer esto.

-¿Qué me pasó? ¿Dónde estoy?¿Quienes son todas estas chicas?

-Son tus hermanas, ellas pasaron por lo mismo que vos y te van a guiar.

-¿Voy a poder volver a casa?

-Nunca. Lo lamento mucho, pero no vas a poder volver.

-Es todo mi culpa, ¡nunca tendría que haber salido de casa tan tarde!

-No, no es tu culpa, jamás pienses que algo de lo que te pasó fue por tu culpa. Esto es culpa de ellos y de ellas, de los que miran y no hacen nada. De los que tienen el poder de cambiar las cosas pero están atados por sus propias miserias. Es culpa de una sociedad que se creó sobre bloques y más bloques de desigualdad y represión. Es culpa de un sistema que nació siendo injusto pero que a nadie le preocupó cambiarlo porque beneficiaba a unos pocos, hasta que ya fue demasiado tarde. Esto es culpa de los que repiten la historia a pesar de que ya saben como termina y que el resultado no es bueno.

-¿Alguna vez va a cambiar las cosas?

-*¡Vivas nos queremos!* *¡Nos están matando! ¡hagan algo ya!* *¡Ni una menos!* -se escuchan voces a lo lejos- Tienen que cambiar, pero es un camino díficil. Hay que romper el sistema y armarlo de nuevo. A tus hermanas y hermanos les van a decir locos, exagerados y van a tratar de minimizar el problema, pero van a tener que ser fuertes.

-Ojalá no se rindan nunca.

Question: if I see someone pull off a Hijab, what should I do? I know there are reasons they are worn so I want to if i should stand in between them and who did this, should i protect them from view somehow, or something else? This has been happening a lot so I feel it’s something everyone needs to know.

Good question! I cannot correctly and effectively answer, as I am a white, non-Muslim person; however, I will reblog in case any of my followers can answer.

I asked my Hijabi friend, so here’s one Hijabi’s answer: 

“my opinion is, definitely try cover them or give them something to cover themselves with. And perhaps shoo off the person, without putting oneself in danger! God forbid, if that happened to me, I would like someone to come and comfort me and give me something to cover my hair with and then help me report it to the cops “

If u see it happen to 1 of us, pls cover our head + hair with a coat or shawl or any piece of cloth, while hugging us in comfort. Please don’t get hurt by lashing out @ the perpetrators in any way, coz if they dare to do that, they’re probably too far gone in their own hatred to listen to any reason. yes !! everything said here is important af. if you see someone pull off a girl’s hijab immediately cover her hair and provide comfort. don’t talk to the perpetrator but try to get the woman out of there if you can. maybe if you have a scarf on you at the time give it to her so she can wear it until she’s alone and can replace her hijab. please please protect muslim girls because we already had it hard before donald trump became president and now its gonna be worse with people going around thinking their violence and cruelty is justified
