You are a fascist. You want to dictate the behavior of others. Anyone who disagrees with you is, de facto, bad.
Loser.
cranky because you dont want to grapple with the idea that sometimes your actions have negative health effects on people around you, aren’t you
I see your point op and I disagree with the reply but, like, sometimes people have addictions and shaming them even more doesn’t actually do anything to help. A lot of smokers try to keep their habits away from public spaces but it’s hard in places like the city. I’m not defending those who do it without regard for others, but I just feel like there’s a lot of aggression for smokers that doesn’t need to be happening.
Just gonna chime in as someone who smoked for 10 years and recently quit - there used to be spaces for smoking in public, but in past few years they’ve been taken away. In Finland, and as far as I’m aware in EU in general, there’s a war against smoking. And one of the bullshit techniques they’ve used is removing all designated smoking areas. So we used to have a space that had like a bench or two and some roof to cover from rain, and an ashtray to keep the place clean, and everyone who didn’t like smoking just knew to stay away from that little area. Those spaces are now literally illegal. Smokers no longer have a place to go where they could be sure they wont be putting anyone else in danger. For some public buildings, such as schools, smoking on the yard is now illegal. Meaning smokers are literally forced to smoke on the sidewalks, where other people are just trying to live.
We didn’t choose this. We were very happy with our tiny little smoking areas, even tho they were usually a bit to the side, but it was a safe space without endangering anyone and with easy access to ashtrays and bins. It was the obsession to stop smoking that took those spaces away and threw us in the middle of other people.
