Protesters in Tijuana chant ‘Out!’ at Central American migrants
Hundreds of Tijuana residents congregated around a monument in an affluent section of the city south of California on Sunday to protest the thousands of Central American migrants who have arrived via caravan in hopes of a new life in the U.S.
Tensions have built as nearly 3,000 migrants from the caravan poured into Tijuana in recent days after more than a month on the road, and with many more months ahead of them while they seek asylum. The federal government estimates the number of migrants could soon swell to 10,000.
U.S. border inspectors are processing only about 100 asylum claims a day at Tijuana’s main crossing to San Diego. Asylum seekers register their names in a tattered notebook managed by migrants themselves that had more than 3,000 names even before the caravan arrived.
On Sunday, displeased Tijuana residents waved Mexican flags, sang the Mexican national anthem and chanted “Out! Out!” in front of a statue of the Aztec ruler Cuauhtemoc, 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) from the U.S. border. They accused the migrants of being messy, ungrateful and a danger to Tijuana. They also complained about how the caravan forced its way into Mexico, calling it an “invasion.” And they voiced worries that their taxes might be spent to care for the group. (AP)

a lot of us will reblog this and think “wow i need to check on people” or “i need to make people feel loved” but 99% of us will end up not doing it because we are not used to doing it and it’ll be weird for us to start doing it out of nowhere
BUT everyone needs support, love and understanding. not because a person looks happy does it mean they no longer need help. lets all reach out to our loved ones by at least calling them hi or checking up on them. its not too late to make a good change. sure it might be weird in the beginning but trust me, they will see that you care and it will make not only their day but possibly also their life
and it can even change others to start checking on their loved ones

FOR PEOPLE IN THE FRIGGIN BACK
me whenever i look at everyone: why am i the only ugly person
trump administration:
me: what could possibly go wrong
what went wrong:
There’s a reason why those regulations were in place, to protect consumers from shit like this. To no surprise, this administration’s policies are not for the protection of it’s people-they serve the interests of the large corporations-not for the people, not for America.
It should also be noted that these companies could still follow the now-repealed safety regulations. They’re showing their colors as bastards by immediately jumping on all this deregulation to save a few bucks at the cost of consumers’ health and well-being. Any of the people running these companies could take the easiest moral stance and literally save lives, and they adamantly refuse to do so because they are literal monsters who value capital over lives
Hi,
I know that this is not personal expertise, but my dad is an Infectious Disease Specialist who works in the CDC, and I’ve heard enough outbreak horror stories at the dinner table that I’ve learned to hold my food in my stomach.
My point being: this is not the first E-coli outbreak, and it most certainly won’t be the last. But not because of de-regulating the FDA (which, btw, that top article? Literally is about how not much has changed in the FDA since Trump took over).
E-coli commonly comes from strains of infected animal shit. Farms can’t prevent every bird that decides to crap on their crops. So, a crapped-upon veggie is harvested, mixed in with a bunch of other veggies, and the virus taints all other veggies it touches. There will be some tests, but the FDA can’t catch everything. So the product gets into the stores, and some people get sick.
These sick people then call or visit a doctor. The doctor reports the symptoms, and if they don’t know what it is? They call someone at the CDC, or an infectious disease specialist, give the symptoms, and ask for a diagnosis.
Now, think about it: you’re working at the CDC, and suddenly you get several calls over a few days with reports of the same symptoms, ones that match an E-coli virus. Time to put on your deerstalker and investigate. You ask people what they ate… 3-4 days before they started having symptoms. Not everyone’s memory is perfect. They might’ve eaten at a restaurant or a friend’s house. You try to see if there are patterns, a type of food that everyone ate, a grocery store that everyone shopped at, or a restaurant everyone went to. You try your best to narrow it down to exactly what it is, where it came from, and exactly which product to ask for a recall.
That’s what’s currently happening right now—CDC hasn’t got the whole picture yet, but they’re doing more investigating and will report when they know for sure.
But this is not a problem that sprung directly from Trump’s administration.
I say this not as a reprimand. But let’s focus our energy on where Trump IS wrong, and HAS caused harm. We have no shortage of those issues.
The fact that this Tumblr Purge happened so quickly and easily after Tumblr was taken down from the Apple Store tells me that @staff and @support had the means to get rid of the blatant pedophiles AND that they knew there were pedophiles on this site, but they let them stay because the clicks that those freaks got them mattered more than the wellbeing of the fucking 13 year olds that @staff literally allows to download their app and that pisses me off SO FUCKING MUCH. Staff doesn’t deserve any fucking praise whatsoever because they LET the site get this disgusting ON FUCKING PURPOSE. I will do my absolute best to leave this god awful site, and I hope more people do the same. Staying on this site means staying with a staff that chose money over morality and WOULD CONTINUE TO DO SO if it weren’t for the app being taken down by Apple. This site is an honest to god danger to kids, and I will do everything in my power to make sure people stay away from it.
We were told that they were doing everything they could and we knew it was bullshit. The purge just shows that we were right all along.
