The emotional impact of Go for it, Nakamura! this week is an ode to all of those who have felt like they needed to hide who they are, because who they love runs against traditional expectations.

I loved it.

I'm sick.

Literally nauseous and tearing up at the beautiful way the anime team took what the mangaka created and helped us dive into the mind of Nakamura's crash and burn.

They tore away the comedy and laid Nakamura's soul bare, offering a glimpse into the lack of acceptance for the queer community by the main stream.

The black screens mark an indistinct passing of time as Nakamura cracks, day by day. Each one is a successive blow to the light hearted nature of what Nakamura felt when he had a crush on a boy who was once unattainable, and then gave him a glimmer of hope.

The addition of Valentine's Day was on point! A time to express your love. No surprise that Nakamura wasn't able to follow through on his. The real twist was how they added to the will-they/won't-they of Hirose's feelings.

How long do you think he was waiting by those shoe lockers?

How many times did he think about asking Nakamura about his day?

Was he wanting to talk about the girl who had confessed? Or did he want to discuss why he didn't want to follow through on giving her a chance?

Or was it that he wanted to see if Nakamura had thought about giving anyone a chance?

The continual pan to the words of acceptance, written by Hifumi in the playful comic, Nakamura wants so desperately to hear from anyone, not only Hirose, are another lost conversation among the many from this episode.

But someone wrote them.
