Drawing a random mortal kombat character every day until i finish the series roster… day 31!

For today we’re officially out of the recent trend of characters i have alot to say on… and stryker, and have returned to those i have very little in terms of care for.

Drahmin, introduced in mortal kombat deadly alliance as a part of a pair of new sub bosses, is an oni - a demon of the neatherealm. Drahmin’s past is known to be that of a human warlord, known for his brutality and vicious nature. These traits translate to his demonic self, where he takes the form of a skinned human corpse, with a simple pair of briefs, and a shoulderpad. The most defining details of his design however include his club, and the defining mask adorning his skinned face.

To me, i always felt like Drahmin was made as a nod to the mk4 secret character - Meat. As the two are visually very similar (ie… they’re skinned human corpses)

However, Drahmin is in fact his own character as shown by MK Armageddon featuring them as seperate characters with their own stories.

I frankly dont care for him, and no shade neither do NRS- when his MASK has made more appearances than the character himself has, i think that’s very telling lol.

Anyways!!! Am proud of this one regardless!! Definitely nice to have had an easier one to do this time haha!!!

Drawing a Random MK character every day until i finish the series roster… DAY 30!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAH!!! First month officially into this series and we’re still going strong!!!

For day 30, i was given the lovely miss Ashrah! (I’m sure a certain mutual of mine will be happy to see i’ve finally gotten to this one haha!) A character who i actually really love and think has alot of really cool story potential!!!! Ashrah is a demon from the netherrealm, being sisters with fellow netherealmer Sareena and the other 2 demons from mythologies (Kia and Jataaka) Ashrah was made to be subservient to the head of the brotherhood of shadow; Quan Chi.

However, unlike the others, Ashrah managed to break away from his control at some point. And in her attempt at escape, made contact with this strange blade she calls a kriss… this blade speaks to Ashrah and tells her that the redemption and freedom she seeks can be achieved via slaying all her fellow demons with it. As such, Ashrah became the demonic swordswoman we see today!

For this pin, i mainly took off her MK Deception look, as the massive hat/veil combo and angelic whites contrasting with the golds give her a very pure look. However, one detail i took from her mk1 appearance would have to be her scars. Ashrah and Sareena have these strange scars around their eyes in that game, and -for me- i think it really sells this almost inhuman look to them. Especially considering the two have fully blacked out eyes as well.

I chose to forgo the eye detail, however i personally love the scars on her face, and think adding them makes the design stand out more than it would otherwise!!!

Drawing a random MK Character Every Day until we finish the series roster - day 27!!!!!!

KINTAROOOOOOOOO!!!!!

My all time fave mk character you guys have NO idea how excited i am to finally get him fnsjdbsjsbs!!!!! He and Khameleon are the two characters that prompted me to start this series actually!!! I initially wanted to make some merch for characters that otherwise dont have any, then i decided that afterwards to just do all the characters in case anyone else has characters they love that otherwise have no merch or fan content! So i plan to make Kintaro a pin/acrylic stand for myself, and if there’s any interest in other characters i’ll see about figuring out how to set up a little shop of these!!!

Anywho!!! Characterwise- Kintaro was introduced in mk2 as the followup sub boss to Goro- who following his defeat in the first mk game went into hiding.

I always mourn what Kintaro could be, because it seems that fans and developers alike have all decided to write off the tigrar shokan as nothing more than a ‘lesser’ goro.

His story is always one i think that has alot of potential, having grown up as a ‘lesser’ class of shokan due to his tigrar race. The tigrar always being seen as inferior to those of draconic blood, it makes sense as to why Kintaro grew up to he this brutal feral beast of a combatant. He had to otherwise he’d have been just written off as a weakling by his people, and i think that just opens up alot of potential for him.

Alas i doubt we’ll ever get any real love for Kintaro from NRS, they seem content letting Goro be the only Shokan that gets consistent screentime over the games.

Anyways, i’m super happy with this one, Kintaro turned out perfect! I even gave a little nod to his hideous mka look by adding his little braid, though i chose to make it subtler since his design is already pretty packed fjsjdjsjs!!!
