i actually want to complain about the phrasing of this so i will. saying you’re “curious” about a canonly asian character is just so strange, like he’s not a fucking zoo animal. im so sick of people looking at poc as if we’re spectacles instead of just human beings. and then to have op say they wanted to draw tomura as asian as if that isn’t something you should be doing from the START. he IS asian. and you shouldn’t be getting complimented for doing what you’re supposed to.

Okay. So let's clear this up inmediatly.

The reason why i said in the post of the fanart that i tried to make him look asian is because i know that is his race, but is not always easy to translate caricaturistic features into realism. More so when the race of the person you are trying to portray is other than yours since is hard to try faces with features diferent from what you are used to see in the mirror.

Of course i understand your concern since i am a poc too, but the point of the comments goes to the fact that we often see fanarts of bnha with general western features, hence my attemp to paint him like he should look in a more realistic style and wanting to see it (which by the way is really hard)

When i said i tried to make him look asian is because i tried to make him look like he should look in real life. That's all.

Now, if you were so angry about it you could easily reach to me and ask what i meant by it.

i also did not owe you anything before posting about this. this is my blog hello?? it’s cool or whatever that you know he’s actually asian, but your response to that commenter did not reflect that at all - you should have clarified from the start that he’s not being drawn as an asian, but that he’s being drawn how he is in canon. i also have issues with how you’re accepting praise for the BARE MINIMUM. you can write on and on about how difficult it is to draw people of color, but i actually don’t care. stop complaining about it. either practice and draw us or just quit art. 

i’m sure if you referenced actual asian people it would not be that fucking difficult anyway. what do you MEAN its hard to translate those features. study them. learn them. you’re doing everything except for accepting the fact that you need to do better. if what i have to say bothers you, you have a lot of internal work you need to deal with if you want to actually be a respectable artist. this is criticism from another person of color and you should be taking it genuinely, not going on the defense.
