This artbook is a very short intro to the world of Tamil folk religion and the mother goddesses that function at its heart. It contains 12 full-color illustrations of different Ammans as well as brief descriptions of their respective stories (researched over the years through engagement with oral histories, villu-pattu audios, temple visits, that one eccentric auntie who gets mysterious dream visitors and won't elaborate further, etc. etc.)

**Since this is a PREORDER it will take around a month or so to receive all your copies from the printer before shipping.**

"Kotravai"—the ancient Tamil deity of war, hunting, fertility, and the harvest. Sometimes, warriors ritually beheaded themselves to secure her blessings for their kings. Metal, isn't it?

My most favorite page to illustrate from Nadia Salomon's "A Rakhi for Rakesh" 💗 All the little trinkets in this illustration were pulled from craft supplies, jewelry, embroidery tools, and random textures from real life (mostly from around my apartment).

I wanted to evoke the childhood wonder of putting something together with your own hands—the sensory joy of picking out from a big pile of textures, colors, and materials—for someone you love. Honored to have worked with Nadia Salomon's heartful writing and with HarperCollins

thanks for the comments and asks saying i'm being mean for very mildly saying i don't like when people make social decisions based on horoscopes.

your behavior has made me realize i should be "meaner": horoscopes are fake.

the position of planets and balls of gas did not in any way impact your personality or destiny. it has nothing to do with what kind of people you are compatible with, despite what an app or magazine told you.

i think sincere belief in horoscopes shows a concerning propensity to trust pseudoscience and a susceptibility to confirmation bias.

i'm pretty tired of having to tiptoe around this kind of thing and include disclaimers. if you genuinely think you shouldn't be friends with someone because of the date they came out of a uterus, you're being a clown.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since I drew the Aang that started me on my animation journey. I entered it into an open call for submissions at Gallery Nucleus during their Avatar Anniversary show and was blown away to hear Bryan himself purchased it. And after all these years, I'm now a character designer on the next entry in the series 🥹🧡 I couldn't be more grateful for this fateful encounter
