If planted into one’s body, these mushrooms will offer a mage great magic. But, as with all magic, it comes at a high price. The more spells the mage casts, the more their own body decays. Of course, the decay can be stopped at any time as long as the user isolates themselves from all magic. But the type of person who would quit magic would never have planted the mushrooms in the first place, now would they?
