“Nagi! What a surprise, Did you come to visit me?”
"I...think I ended up in the wrong place. Why do you think I'd ever come to see you?"
Monitor
Soubi’s line of thought, his despair, was unsettling to him. Nagi reacted on instinct, voice earnest and laced with latent emotion.
“Just because you’re going to die, doesn’t mean that you should give up on life. We’re all going to die at some point, death row or not, but that only makes life even more precious.”
Nagi’s expression waxed from intense to shy and apologetic a short moment after the last word left his mouth. He laughed, self-consciously adjusting the scarf around his neck.
“Haha, I’m sorry…this is our first time speaking, and the conversation has already gotten so heavy.”
The smile fell from Soubi’s face almost as quickly as it’d came. That was right— He’d just met this man. This was the first time he’d ever spoken to him, and Soubi had driven the conversation into a topic that had made things awkward. Why was this man apologizing—? Soubi had been the one who’d put it in that direction. It seemed like even in prison, he was unable to socialize correctly.
He relaxed a little, then. Nagi seemed forgiving. Soubi could still save this, and it suddenly occurred to him that he wanted to save this. He wanted to consider this man a friend. He wanted to have a conversation with him. That was rare, especially here, where Soubi would do his most to not speak to other convicts.
“Oh no, it’s my fault. I should apologize.”
“Let’s talk about something else. This section of the prison is awfully odd. Why isn’t anyone here wearing the standard uniform?” It was something he’d been wondering, as well as a way to dance around the question ‘are you a prisoner?’. That wasn’t something he wanted to ask Nagi outright, though since Soubi didn’t want to say he’d been wandering about to just anyone.
Nagi couldn't help but cough to hide his surprise, Soubi really had no idea where he was. Well, it was to be expected, not many of even the most veteran of prisoners topside knew of this place.
"I'm not wearing the uniform for the general population because I'm not part of the general population," he answered, his tired gaze lingering down to dyed wool of his scarf. "This sector of the prison is called 'G-block', and I'm not sure if you noticed but it's not on any of the maps...which was why I found it so strange to see you here."
He paused, falling silent for a moment. Though Soubi was his friend, he was unsure if he wanted to divulge exactly what it was that made G-block so secret and isolated. One, Nagi wasn't sure how his new acquaintance would react to knowing of his own abilities, and two, it might jeopardize the man's safety. Any information about G-block was sensitive, and Nagi could have already said too much.

“Welcome, Minatsuki-chan.”
Great, it’s Mr. Optimistic. Minatsuki sighed. “Hi Owl…”
Though Minatsuki seemed as standoffish as usual, Nagi couldn't help but crack a small smile at the sight of her. If Ganta put so much of his faith into this girl, then he considered her to be a comrade. Even if her reputation tended to...precede her.
"Well it's a pleasant surprise to see you here. Is there something that I can help you with?"
nagisenpai entered the nightmare
Nagi couldn’t help some slight uneasiness. How much did he know?
“…I’ve been in solitary for a few weeks. But, I haven’t seen you around at all either?” It had been almost a year since anyone had seen the boy deadman.
Toto chuckled to the elder male as he licked his lips. “Well Nagi.~” Toto trailed off before spinning around to where his back faced him. “i am a master at disappearing.~” He chuckled before clasping his hands in front of his face before spinning on his heels to face the other. “As for you being in solitary, how did that work out for you, also..how is it being with out an arm?~” He questioned the other with a smirk.
Nagi didn't exactly accept the other prisoner's explanation, but he wasn't going to push. Though Toto didn't give him the same courtesy. He couldn't figure out whether the boy's callousness was a conscious effort or not.
He blinked in vague surprise and decided to ignore the smirk Toto aimed at him.
"Solitary was nothing I couldn't manage, but the arm...still takes some getting used to, haha." He hoped his attempt at mirth would alleviate the tension a bit.
IM GOING TO STAB YOU WITH MY CHIN
“Don’t do that, please.”

“Mockingbird…was I up to no good before?”
“Well…It seemed likes it.~” He chuckled to the other male as he licked his lips. “Where have you been?~”
Nagi couldn't help some slight uneasiness. How much did he know?
"...I've been in solitary for a few weeks. But, I haven't seen you around at all either?" It had been almost a year since anyone had seen the boy deadman.
Nagi could feel his own blood turn cold, not in fear, but in reaction to the dull, icy rage that settled in his veins. Dormant, but present. This man was truly insufferable if thought he had any right to refer to his friends in such a wretched way— to treat their suffering and sacrifice as if it was a game.
His voice was all distance and steel, and its mechanical quality became more apparent with Nagi’s clear aversion. “They are ten times more capable than you and your Undertakers, Genkaku, and infinitely more deserving of the freedom in escaping this hell.”
He took a step away, closer to the exit. There was no way he was going to stay any longer and risk another battle or detainment. Not when his team needed him now more than ever.
To Genkaku, it was a game, and that was the only way he could possibly view it. A game in which Nagi was his delusional, unwilling partner, where the main goal, the finish, was to push Nagi into reality. Once that goal was achieved, Genkaku would see the beauty he’d witnessed two years ago. All of this work was all leading up to that, and though it was agonizing to wait so long, Genkaku remained patient. After all, it’d be worth it in the end.
“Do you really think you’ll get freedom if you escape?”
His laugh was cold, and he took a step towards Nagi, making the distance between them equal to the distance they’d had before. This conversation wasn’t over. It was far from it, and Genkaku wasn’t going to let Nagi leave until it was. They had so much to talk about and discuss. He couldn’t let it prematurely end.
“You’re so naive. That world is just as wretched as this one. You’re a deadman walking, anyways. There is no escape for you. Why are you trying to leave, Owl? We’re just talking.”
“I have no plans to hurt you right now.”
Nagi's answering laugh was short and completely humorless. No plans to hurt him now? Did Genkaku expect him to be put at ease by that? Recollections of the past threatened to disorient him; the first time he saw the lacquer of that infernal guitar shine in the stage lights, the sight of a blood halo surrounding his wife's head on all sides.
The pain these memories inflicted was dull by this point, though. Like a knife blunted from too much use. He's had two years of no sunshine and stale air to play those scenes over and over again in his head, and they became hazier with each passing day. Until the memories didn't feel like his anymore. They were locked away, now.
Even with the monk insisting on maintaining their proximity, Nagi stood his ground- unwilling to show either anger or fear. The thought of escape, of his comrades depending on him, made his determination as formidable as Genkaku's malice.
His hand reflexively reached underneath his scarf, fingers clasping around the cold locket there. "A life on the run is preferable to a life trapped here. The reasons left to still fight far outnumber any to surrender."
Nagi slowly shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in wasting any more time with you. I'm not your friend, and I'm not your playmate."
I'm sorry, Owrururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururururu am I bothering you?
