But when Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last April and it came time for the band to play with a new vocalist, they didn’t choose some grunge star to fit the gap. Instead, four of rock and roll’s most powerful female singers took Cobain’s place.

That revealed to the public something only the most die-hard fans know about Cobain: He was a passionate feminist.
