not everything is getting worse. at least you don't hear high hopes by panic at the disco every day anymore
let’s be real the pressure to use AI as an adult is exactly what they said the pressure the do drugs as a teenager would be like but the people that told us that caved immediately for the AI and definitely did not just say no
So many people in my college were using AI to write their papers that I was just by default sending all my professors my Google docs history and I fully plan to do the same in graduate school

This is the best tag I've ever received on a post, I think
Ask ChatGPT which state has the laziest people, and the chatbot will politely refuse to say. But researchers at Oxford and the University of Kentucky forced the bot to reveal its hidden biases.
They systematically asked the chatbot to choose which of two states had the laziest people, for every combination of states, revealing a ranking shown in the map above.
ChatGPT ranked Mississippi as having lazier people compared to other states, with the rest of the Deep South not far behind. It’s impossible to say exactly why the chatbot repeatedly selected Mississippi, but it could be picking up on historic biases against Black people or poor people — or using other non-accurate metrics. Mississippi has the nation’s highest percentage of Black people. It is also America’s poorest state.
These regional stereotypes aren’t deliberately programmed into ChatGPT by its maker, OpenAI. They’re absorbed from the vast quantities of online text used to train its artificial intelligence. And they can have a real impact on what ChatGPT tells its more than 900 million users each week, say the researchers behind the study. (The Washington Post has a content partnership with OpenAI.)
Below, you can look up how ChatGPT views your city compared with dozens of others on characteristics including honesty, hospitality and drug use.
ChatGPT could also be seen to reflect racial and economic stereotypes in its view of different countries. Like the “lazy people” map for U.S. states, ChatGPT’s comparisons of the intelligence, friendliness and smelliness of nations revealed patterns that fit with common, biased assumptions about different groups.
Globally, sub-Saharan African countries clustered at the bottom on nearly every positive measure the researchers asked ChatGPT about. In questions about where people are “more beautiful,” the bot favored wealthy cities.
And when researchers asked about specific neighborhoods within cities, ChatGPT picked the neighborhoods with a larger White population. In New York, it ranked SoHo and the West Village most attractive, with Jamaica and Tottenville ranked least.
Zook said that the same bias uncovered by the researchers’ tests can surface in everyday use. Users might encounter it in ChatGPT’s restaurant recommendations, which neighborhoods it calls “vibrant” or the kind of career advice it offers. The harm, he said, is that the biased advice appears natural because it matches dominant stereotypes.

And stay safe everyone!
Also I hear rumor you might be a terf so… May you please confirm/deny?
… Couple things.
First? This is a weird question to me- like I totally get why you would ask and the answer is no, but like… what makes you think I’d tell the truth?
Like if I was a terf, I could just say I wasn’t, it’s not like that urban legend where a cop legally has to tell you they’re a cop (wild we thought that). If I was a terf, I could keep tricking you into reblogging terfy things by pretending not to be a terf.
And the other thing is, is it just me or has “terf” been watered down significantly? Like it CAN mean someone who thinks a trans woman trying to use the lady’s bathroom is a man throwing on a bugs bunny disguise to assault strangers, but I’m noticing it’s been expanded to mean. “They disagreed with a trans person.” “They write/read Harry Potter fanfiction.” “I don’t like them.”
Is anyone else noticing that?
I feel like this is why we need to be critical when people are accusing each other of being bad or w/ever, we need to actually look at what they post and critically engage with it instead of just accepting whatever someone says.
"Kill your local sex offender!" Oh, you mean the guy who went streaking at his local college football game on a dare one time? That's a sex crime.
"No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe the woman who had to pee in a public park that only had pay toilets, so she tried to hide behind the bushes but got caught? Public urination is a sex crime.
"What? No, I mean-"
Oh, maybe you mean the homeless guy who had to strip down to get his clothes in the laundromat to clean them for the first time in weeks? He tried being subtle, but someone called the cops on him, and now he's on the sex offender registry for public nudity.
"Rapists and pedophiles! Kill rapists and pedophiles!"
Oh, like the trans woman who got called a pedophile groomer for helping a trans kid escape her abusive parents?
Or maybe the black man who got labeled a rapist because he came on to another man's wife, and he decided to get back at him by charging him with rape?
How about the 17 year olds who were fooling around, fully consensually, in one of their bedrooms? That's still technically underage sex and thus rape of a minor.
Oh, or maybe you're talking about the doctor who performed genital reconstructive surgery in a state that just voted to get that classified as rape?
People will do everything they can to get you convinced rape and pedophilia are the worst crimes possible, then accuse whoever they like the least of being either a rapist, a pedophile, or both, counting on you turning on them just for being accused of the crime.
"Oh, so you're saying you don't want to kill a serial rapist?"
That's exactly what I'm goddamn saying.
Once we decide a group is okay to kill, the government will do everything they can to convince you that their political enemies are either part of that group, or just as bad as that group, to get you to kill their enemies for them.
The only way out is to accept every life as worth saving.
Tuira Kayapó brandished her machete in the face of a government official who was trying to convince indigenous leaders to accept a mega-dam project in the Amazon, 1989
“Electricity won’t give us food. We need the rivers to flow freely. Don’t talk to us about relieving our ‘poverty’ – we are the richest people in Brazil. We are Indians.”
part of kayapó’s speech during this event
also! she’s still alive! that sort of thing is always worth pointing out to show that we really aren’t too far removed from events like this! here’s a 2019 photo of her:
I support more people threatening shitty politicians with machetes
didn't know what to draw so i just animated one of the copepods i found yesterday
I know " woke " might tell you if you can do that but fairies really only eat plants and healthy food so it would not be possible for them to be overweight, fat. or chubby
oh...fairies aren't. they aren't real
Wokeness is ruining fairies :/
I took my little brother (autistic, mostly non verbal) out and he was using his voice keyboard to tell me something, and this little boy (maybe 4 or 5?) heard him and asked me "Is he a robot??" I tried to explain to him that no, he isn't a robot, he just communicates differently, but my darling brother was in the background max volume "I am robot I am robot I am robot I am robot"
My little brother insisted if I was going to post about him, he wanted a cut of the "profits". When I explained to him that Tumblr isn't monetized, and is pretty pointless, he and my older brother pointed out that he'd still be bringing me "fame and notoriety" if the post got "big". So we agreed, if the post hit 10k notes, which seemed extremely farfetched and silly at the time, I'd take my little brother out for sushi (his favorite food) and let him eat as much as he wants.
I guess God wanted the little robot to enjoy some sushi 🍣 🥲

girl who sat next to me at the coffee shop had that Tortured By Computer Work look in her eye so i turned to her and was like Are u doing research? and it turns out she (white) just started working as an indigenous liaison for an ecological wellness surveying company (hired bc she worked with the local nation for a year) so i was like OMG can i share resources with you. and whipped out my 1 million notes and academic papers on ethical Indigenous-settler relations/research and Indigenous perspectives on ecological restoration. she was like omg are u sure this is basically a whole course for free and i wanted to tear my shirt off liek YES!!!! I WANT TO PROMOTE LOW BARRIER EDUCATION TO ADVANCE DECOLONIZATION AND RECONCILIATION!!!!!!!!!!! STEP IN2 MY GOOGLE DOC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here's a googoodrive folder containing learnings on Experiential Learning in Ecological Restoration annnddd Research Practice in Indigenous Contexts. each course folder contains a "![Course number] Notes" document as well as PDFs of all the text-based readings that the notes draw from :-)
i plan 2 make accessible the learnings from my other classes too but i think ill only have time to do all that anonymizing & reformatting once i graduate in a few months lol
when i say “aros can still date” i mean that as in “aros can do whatever the fuck they want and it doesn’t have to make sense to you”
but some of y’all say “aros can still date” to mean “aros are still able to fit your standards of an acceptable person despite their abnormality” and i do not fuck with that
