alphabet boy - jin/namjoon
âItâs no problem.â His signature gentle smile graces his lips as he watches his new seatmate settle on the chair across from him, pleased that his invitation had not been turned down. Although, that is to be expected because passing up on an invitation from Kim Seokjin isnât exactly the most ideal thing to do. Gears begin to shift behind his eyes as he studies the younger wizard in front of him, put off by how someone like him would have the audacity to upstage him.Â
But he supposes that he wouldnât mind a challenge, even if itâs with someone as inferior as a Hufflepuff.
Apparently though, none of his Slytherin seatmates are exactly fond of the idea of having a Hufflepuff at their table but no one dared to say anything about it. They know better than to question Jinâs motives after all; his motives are always believed to be for the good of everyone. One friendly Slytherin in particular had smiled and greeted Namjoon though so thatâs new.
He then shifts his eyes to the books Namjoon has laid out on the table. Achievements in Charming. A Compendium of Common Curses and Their Counter-Actions. Self-Defensive Spellwork. A few other more could be seen buried under the ones that are in view. The guy seems to be getting his hands full today compared to Jinâs whoâs only been leafing through the Moste Potente Potions. How he got his hands on it, no one asked. Suddenly painfully aware that some of their seatmates are now looking at the two of them back and forth with inquisitive eyes, Jin clears his throat and maintains his calm demeanor.
âYou sure have your hands full today.â He opts for a light conversation, his meager casual smile still intact. âYou plan on studying here all day?â
Only when he sat down does he realize that the table was full of Slytherins. His previous demeanor was suddenly gone as it became overshadowed by the immense feeling of having so much eyes pinned on him.
Namjoonâs not really big with attention. He doesnât care most of the time, but too much attention on him is quite overwhelming per se. He didnât ask for it, and he wishes he had just stuck to his plan on going back to the Hufflepuff basement because not even Seokjinâs smile that felt welcoming earlier on canât even save him from the hell that heâs currently in: dealing with a table full of Slytherins.
When he hears someone greet him, he was surprised. Just the thought of an upperclassman Slytherin acknowledging his existence fills him with delight to some extent, but as usual, thereâs always the part of him that eats him up in the inside about how Slytherins wonât ever notice Hufflepuffs (the reason he hasnât said anything to Yoongi about his crush admiration for the elder). Â He smiles and nods towards the other Slytherin that had greeted him as a sign of recognition for the greeting, but says nothing at all.
When there was nothing but silence between anyone in the table he was invited in, he took out a notebook and started skimming through the books as he wrote extra notes on the margins of the pages of the Journal. He made sure his Korean handwriting was readable, instead of the chicken scratch that his handwriting ends up to be whenever heâs writing notes down in class. Jeongguk needs to be able to understand what things he needed to review for the O.W.L.s, and he wants Jeongguk to be able to pass them with outstanding remarks, or at least exceeds expectations remarks on the examination.
There was a noise that he canât quite place what it was; maybe it was a cough or a clearing of the throat, but he was too focused on writing notes down that he doesnât realized that Seokjin had been talking to him.
âH-Huh?â, he asked, eyes wide as he looked up, the quill lifted off of the page of the journal as he smiles sheepishly.
âO-oh no. I⌠This really arenât⌠for me.â, he says as he rubs the nape of his neck. âI-Itâs for a f-friend. Y-yeah. A friend.â, he mumbles as he finished the footnotes he had about the counter-spell âFinite Incantatemâ.
âH-How about you, hââ, he stops as he gnawed on his lower lip. They were in Great Britain, and he doesnât really know if he should be calling him hyung here, or if he was brought up in a traditional Korean household.
âS-should I call you h-hyung?â
