I'm "learning" English grammar
I’m a native English speaker but we’re never taught REAL grammar in American schools like I had never heard of cases before. So, I’m teaching myself in depth grammar to help learn other languages and now I’m like….
do you ever just. really love languages. like. wow. i love languages.
As a German I think is pretty funny how French people pronounce Uhu (the glue). - üü
You know you’re tired when you start laughing at the past participle of pouvoir.
Pu.
The best feeling is when you return to old songs that inspired you to start you learn your target language, and now you can actually understand them ❤️
The reason why I don’t like to call my Tumblr a Langblr is that I just don’t post anything useful.
I usually don’t use my target languages until I’m 90% comfortable with it. So I’m kind of just observing at the moment :/
story time
when I was in Berlin last year, I went to a bookshop. I greeted the woman sitting behind the desk in German and then roamed around the shop. After some time, I choose postcards I wanted to buy. I came to the woman, she spoke German, I answered. but then she asked me something and I didn’t know what the one word meant. and I hesitated for about 2 seconds before remembering what it means and answering in German. but those 2 seconds were everything. the woman started talking to me in English and in English only. I was mad and I kept answering her in German, I refused to speak English. And with Aufwiedersehen, I left.
I get that she knew I’m not a native. But why would she assume I speak English, without asking first? That’s just rude and sad.
It’s sad but in Germany we’re taught that everyone speaks at least some English and if German doesn't work we just talk in English :/
We’re just used to that.
Maybe you could have asked her to speak in German.. but I get what you mean.
Back in middle school, my friends and I used a very simple coded language for writing secret messages. I saw some posts about needing to hide one’s beliefs from partners/bosses/parents so I wanted to share it with you! These would also be great to incorporate into sigils since they are simple lines and dots.
My biggest problem with all of my target languages is the different pronunciation of “R”(or ㄹ in Korean)
Not the pronunciation itself but switching between them.
The only “R” I really just can’t pronounce is the Indonesian one.
All these 2nd generation kpop groups disbanding...
What am I going to listen to while driving now ? Bring them back.
Learning new vocabulary without song lyrics is just way too boring.
me: wow i sure have learned a lot in this language i am so proud native speaker: *says hello in a new way* me:
Honestly, I don’t know why I’m trying to learn all these languages.
I don’t even talk to people.
becoming bilingual in french? more like accidentally adding an e after every english word ever
sometimes its like “ya ive been practicing my speaking, come at me” while in reality you’ve just been speaking to urself while in the shower or alone or w/e. and then the problem arises when u actually have to Speak to someone at like, a volume they can actually hear??? and not just quietly to urself???? and u realize you’ve never regretted anything more in ur tiny little life
