Jesse had just moved into his new apartment. He'd been in luck because the previous tenant had suddenly packed up and left without notice and the leasing agent, knowing how anxious he had been to get a unit in that building, informed him of the opening, but he needed to move right away. Jesse wasted no time and took it. He'd been in the place just three days and finally completed unpacking the third night. He knew he'd have no trouble sleeping.
He drifted off quickly, but sometime later was suddenly awoken by sounds of footsteps and two males voices. He woke up and flipped on the lamp to find two masked men standing at the door of his room.
"What the fuck?" Jesse yelled.
"We just want the flash drive, kid," one man said, "just hand it over and we'll be on our way."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Jesse replied, "What flash drive?"
"Come on," the other guy said, "you're young and got everything ahead of you. Is this really worth your life?"
"Look!" Jesse said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I just moved in here three days ago! Get the fuck out of here or I'm calling the cops!"
"Well, we can't have you do that, now can we?" the first man said.
Jesse was strong and athletic, but the two men were able to overpower him and soon he was bound with rope and gagged with duct tape on the edge of his bed.
"I'll keep on the kid, " the first man said, "find the flash drive. He's got it stashed somewhere."
"Sit down and shut up, kid, or I'm gonna hurt you," the man threatened.
Jesse could hear the other man rifling through his stuff in the other room while the first man kept an eye on him. After a few minutes he heard the other man call out.
"I found it! It was behind the air vent. Not too original."
"Good, let's get out of here."
"What about him?" asked the other man as Jesse began struggling against the ropes.
"What about him? Our job was for the drive. We got it. He can untie himself."
The men bolted out the door leaving an exhausted Jesse straining and struggling in his tighty whities trying to work the knots and free himself.
