His question was answered with another question. Darren didn’t know how to feel about that and his arm fell back to his side. Little more liquid courage was needed to get through this conversation. A big gulp was taken from his drink, shaking his head lightly at the secondary question. Their friends had nothing with the matter and he knew she knew that.
“Our friends are great. They don’t need to be drunk to be alone with me.” It came out like vomit. Wasn’t malicious, more of a defeated tone he spoke in. Darren normally wouldn’t address the issue at all, but Naomi could be so confusing at times, especially when they were drinking. Darren licked his lips trying to not let emotions get the better of him. “As for why, why not” The question hung in the air for a moment before he continued, “because I like you, Naomi.”
Naomi could feel this conversation getting deeper, she knew that her answer wasn’t something he’d wanted. It was evident once he’d pulled his arm away from her. Naomi looked at him as he shoved it in her face how they only hung out when she was drunk. She couldn’t live with the guilt when she was sober, she just couldn’t do it. Things were too complicated, now more than ever. “Wow,” She spoke before furrowing her eyebrows. She hadn’t anticipated that reply at all. She’d be lying if she wasn’t hurt by it.
Her head turned towards him when he’d admitted he liked her. She stared at him and his lips for a quick minute. She knew she shouldn’t do this, but she was drunk, and she didn’t want to talk about it. She didn’t want to say no, she always says no and she really didn’t want to this time. Without any reply she leaned in and pressed her lips towards his.
