Character Name: Kōu Takagi (Kōu being an affectionate nickname that stuck - real first name is Suzume).

Age: 26 - 28 in Shippuden.

Occupation: Jōnin, academy teacher.

Village: Konohagakure.

Personality: Best described as a 'yappy little dog’, Kōu’s got enough personality to make up for her lack of height. Her stubbornness and short fused anger can quickly land her in hot water, but her heart is in the right place as she’s fiercely devoted and loyal to her colleagues and friends. However, that extroverted and exuberant front she wears hides her introverted self; fearful of never being good enough and being completely alone in the world. In quiet moments, she may reveal this through a gentler nature.

Background: Born to a highly renowned kunoichi and a remarkably mediocre shinobi, Kōu’s childhood was a happy one up till the Kyuubi attack on the village that resulted in countless deaths - her mother included. Heartbroken, her father fell into deep depression and further into mental illness - the early onset of dementia leading him to often mistake young Kōu for her mother. Regardless of her heartache of not being remembered by her own father, she worked to care for him from the tender age of eleven, all the way up to her late twenties today…

Character Name: Nagato (Uzumaki)

Age: 35

Occupation: Leader of Akatsuki

Village: Amegakure

Personality: He is a very outspoken person, however he is careful with wording so that it will ultimately benefit him in the end. Intelligent he understand the politics and tactics of war, although he despises the latter to to point of wanting to abolish it. He dislikes the shinobi system as a whole, blaming it for the constant conflict and war-based economy as well as the degraded state of human life as it is then. He is invested with godly power, as well as a crippling disability and he’s perfectly aware of both. He often doesn’t think highly of himself seeing in him a high class criminal with a high dream that might ultimately not even be achieved. However he is highly empathetic and often places the safety and well-being of others in favor of his own. He wishes to understand others despite the differences between them, hoping that is the key to a better future.

Background: He was born in the outskirts of Amegakure in time of war. His parents were civilians, medics of profession (non-shinobi). Under unclear circumstances he gained the prized eyes known as the rinnegan, which he hid under his hair. At the age of 6 his parents were killed and he became forced to live on the streets. Soon enough he meets and teams up with two other orphans named Yahiko and Konan. Their common goal becomes liberating their country for the wars. They follow Jirayia and the other two Sannin around for a while until the aforementioned indulges in taking care of them for a while at least. Upon discovering the precious eyes Nagato has Jirayia decided to teach them ninjutsu. By the age of 10 Nagato mastered every technique taught to him. The Ame trio created the original Akatsuki some years later, setting out to fulfill their goal. However Hanzo has heard of the group and become wary of it - in the end trying to eliminate it, scheming to kill Yahiko - which succeeds. He accepts to work with the masked man, encountered some time earlier and together they form a new Akatsuki that wishes to seal the Bijuus away and creating powerful weapons through which they could later control the monopoly of war.

Village: Konoha (formerly)

Personality: Despite his reputation as a merciless murderer, Itachi has a very quiet and reserved personality. He usually doesn’t speak unless necessary, and when he does he uses few words unless speaking to someone he trusts. Although he normally seems rather cold and detached, underneath he’s very caring and attentive to others. Unfortunately, his life requires him to stifle his gentle nature around most of his associates.

Background: The oldest son of the Uchiha clan’s head, Itachi was a prodigy even among his clan mates. He was deeply attached to and cared for his younger brother, Sasuke, who looked up to Itachi as an idol. Unfortunately, the Uchiha were planning a coupe against their village, Konoha, and Itachi was forced into a situation that tore him apart. In the end he had to kill his entire clan for the sake of saving his little brother, and spent to following years in the criminal organization, Akatsuki, keeping an eye on them for the sake of his village.
