I really like your analysis’. I’m a switch shipper too, and don’t take this the wrong way, but I feel like a lot of complaints you have about the narusasu side comes from the people you follow and support on twitter lol, the same annoying narusasus that love peddling sasuke as this heroine/feminine damsel character who is there to submit to hypermasculine macho naruto. And idk, you seem a lot more narusasu biased despite always stating that you are neutral to these t/b wars. I just feel like it’s frustrating always trying to find someone who’s an actual switch that also seeks out sasunaru content and creators, yet you only seem to interact with the narusasu accounts and analyzers that put naruto in the weirdest light when it comes to sasuke.
Sorry, this is more of a vent. But on here and on twitter i find so many who claim to be ‘SNS’ but the SN is always silent. They will always put SN under the bus, never support anything to do with SN, never even mention it unless it’s to call them names despite always saying that they enjoy both. 99.9% of their content will always be narusasu biased and geared, what’s the point of claiming to be sns then, just say narusasu so that switch shippers who want both can just steer clear.
First of all, thank you! And no offense taken. I cleared up my following a bit, but most of my issues really were with the takes I encountered on my "For You" page because the algorithm just groups all "SNS"-adjacent content together. I love all of my mutuals' posts and haven't had any issues.
The sect of Narusasus I complained about did make posts in the vein you're referring to, but not all people who engage in heroine Sasuke readings behave like that. And I really take no issues with people making heroine Sasuke posts, just as I take no issue with Sasunarus who choose to view Naruto's role as similar to, say, shoujo heroines who act as "redemptive" forces, even though the sect of Sasunarus who I complained about also made similar posts. I used to have stronger opinions about how Naruto and Sasuke were depicted in fan art and stuff, but I can't bring myself to care about Naruto and Sasuke being drawn shorter than they are or feminized in ways that don't align with canon. At all. I won't chastise SNS fans for making silly jokes and having fun in a fandom where het shippers align with literal Nazis to tear us down and harass us for not hailing the nuclear family as supreme. Especially not when "SNS shippers feminize Naruto/Sasuke too much" convos are being supported by het shippers who transmogrify the two beyond belief.
My following on Twitter skews more NS, but my Tumblr following is more balanced. I mostly just follow people who make analysis posts and don't think twice about it. I still follow SN accounts, and I support the separate ship week events when they happen. It's just that certain SN accounts are averse to both NS AND SNS (which is their prerogative), so I refrain from engaging to respect boundaries. My current NS mutuals don't care about me retweeting occasional SN art, so it hasn't been an issue. I'm always looking to support diverse perspectives and opinions and I maintain that I am an SNS fan.
