2026 Taurus Last Quarter Moon
Thursday, August 6, 02:21 UTC, 13°40’ Taurus
Sabian Symbol: shellfish groping and children playing
The key phrases for the Last Quarter lunar phase are “turn away,” and “tear down old structures that no longer serve us well.”
With most of the outer planets in the beginning degrees of their signs, this phase - in the (approximate) middles of Taurus and Leo - has a weird sort of “disconnect” feel to it. The exception is Saturn: the Sun is closing in on a nice, healthy trine; but the Moon seems reluctant to get involved and just wants to stay in its comfort zone. Which is “nice work, if you can get it” but not always appropriate. Or, in the longer run, the best option.
For the rest of the Moon through Taurus time, we have some luck when we pause to “think things through” or just sit with our feelings for a while.
The Taurus Moon is void of course from 23:25 UTC on Thursday, August 6; until 06:08 UTC on Friday, August 7, when it enters Gemini. Almost immediately the vibe shifts. We’re (much) more sociable and chatty for the entire Moon/Gemini period, but especially on Friday. It’s easier to make conversation, and - who knows? - we could make some interesting connections. We’re just as loquatious on Saturday, but more physically active with it. Probably more of a focus on domestic issues (running errands, like that).
The Gemini Moon is void again on Sunday, August 9, between 05:27 UTC and 07:46 UTC. The Balsamic phase begins almost immediately afterward, when the Moon enters Cancer, with a vague and drifty vibe overall. Nobody feels very grounded, and (most likely) nobody particularly wants to.
