Hi, there. I’m Natalia. Biologist specialized on paleontology who decided to start an art career. I love to draw dinosaurs, other types of paleoart and my own creature. Right now I’m working in a sci-fi universe where dinosaurs are the main sentience species and create several civilizations. I’m also a science communicator who has write two books about human evolution and the history of life on Earth. Right now, I’m working to become a teacher, working in new projects and managing my online shop. Hope you like my work.

Played some Exquisit Biome for the first time thanks to @natalia-dinodrawer on her Discord! It was a really fun and creative game I really enjoyed, and here you have my creations! :3

Tundra raptor bird: A male, thus the bright colouring on his feathers. It's an omnivore the size of a cat but his talons and wings are ready for a quick attack, either from land or air. It's the size of a cat, meaning he can be easily predated. Female's feathers don't include the coloured ones, so they can just camouflage in the snow, while males bury themselves, leaving just their back visible.

Floating mantis: Her head appendixes can be used to cover her babies, who travel with their mom hiding between her wings. That way she avoids them to get roasted by the sun. Her legs allow her to stand on the water surface and attract bugs, tadpoles or tiny fishes to hunt them.

Tropical axolotl: Carrying it's babies on its inflatable cheeks, this axolotl can move around for a while before needing some water, the moment it moves from puddle to puddle with its babies. Thus it needs to hide from predators, it uses mushroom's spores to hide. Then when it reaches the new puddle, spores spread through water, helping the mushrooms' reproduction.

Goat tapir: Living near waterfalls, where mold and the greenest plants inhabit, these oportunistic animals climb the sharpest cliffs in order to reach whatever they can. From fresh grass to eggs in a nest, which they can reach with their short trunk. They live in herds of one male and several females, which means males fight constantly to keep their herd. Males have darker colours and a huge sack on top of their nose in order to scare their enemy. However, if they fight, they're served with sharp tusks and strong horns. Females, on the other side, are coloured to camouflage on tall grass and aren't born with the trunk.

Today we have been playing Exquisite Biome in Discord. It was a lot of fun and it is quite engrossing to see everyone creations.

Here my creatures:

-A hybrid fish/bird which lives in a forest island.

-A predatory polychaete which use its tail as bait. When females get fertilized they still using their thickened tail to hunt (this time even with more success). At the end, the offspring left their mother and star living on their own.

-An elephant anteater. They eat an specialize type of ant who eat moss and life in waterfalls. Adults use their big claws to climb and open their nests. There is also a high number of intersexual individuals in the populations.

-Beekeeper gecko. They get bees and their larvae to start a new hive. They create a new nest with leaves and spiderweb.

Little cute female sparrow

Do you like sparrows? I love them so much. I remember watching them as a teenager when I was alone in the breaks of highschool.

It’s a shame that nowadays their population are decreasing due to cats, contamination, and other causes.

That is the reason I try to sell these ones as sticker in my store and donate part of the benefits to SEO Birdlife.

Nanotemnus ambassador

Nanotemnus societies have understand the power of public speech. In contrast with other species like Archorasaurus, they try to resolve conflict without getting their hands dirty.

So, diplomacy is an aspect with incredible relevance in their culture.

Ambassador Maeira here is an important public figure which ask for a pencil portrait of one of their famous speeches.

In dinosaur societies, there is a different concept about gender. In western human societies, gender tends to be seen as something binary: woman and man. Although these concepts are changing and bringing new concepts of gender, other human cultures have a more flexible understanding of gender having three or even more genders or being more flexible about their definitions.

Dinosaur societies have, in general, three roles that could be convergent to out concept of “gender”. Jonte is more refered to male individuals, sonte to female and onte to non-binary.

Aegirocassis benmoulai

Directly from the Ordovician we have the first filter-feeder animal and one of the largest by its time, about 2 meters long.

I speculate they fed just like modern manta rays.

Bee eater

Illustration of Merops apiaster. This colourful bird is common in Europe where it used to breed.

I remember watching my first one of these in Ampurias (Catalunia, Spain) near the ancient Roman city.

Arbiter

The arbiter (Thel Vadam) and Guilty Spark looking at a galactic map of the different halo instalations, including Instalation 04 which was destroyed by Master Chief (S-117). Yeah, I really wanted to draw something Halo related for the only drawing I made for inktober.

Made with waterproof markers, Chinese ink, acrilic marker, white gouache and Winson and Newton watercolors.
