âUh, think youâve mistaken me for someone who has the time and interest for that, perhaps?â
⟠Closed || Nate & Mabel
âWhy wouldnât I?â she questioned then, looking around the room in order to see if they were receiving any glances so far. It was a bold move to walk up to him, Mabel suddenly realized, as she hadnât thought about how easily people would start to talk. And she already knew that she didnât quite know how to explain Hav that he was one of the few people who actually managed to pique her interest. Perhaps thatâs why her niece had so much difficulties to move on from their relationship; it was nearly impossible to dislike him. Even though they had only spoken a handful of times, Nate had easily managed to charm her, saying the right words at the right time. It made her wonder how long it had taken him to perfect his gift of captivating everyone around him; remembering how she spent years practicing her own techniques and managing to build quite a reputation for herself â even though she felt nothing but regret now. It was then she realized he was probably one of those people who were born with it, and she couldnât even bring herself to envy him for that, Mabel simply admired him for keeping it together after everything that had happened.Â
A small smile settled itself on her lips as she sat down next to him, slightly surprised that he hadnât hinted her to leave. âAs if youâd mind. I reckon you have more than enough experiences with girls who fancy you. One more or less wouldnât make a difference, would it now?â Mabel replied, taking a sip from her drink as she continued letting her gaze shift over the crowd, before abruptly looking at him when he mentioned why he was here. She laughed rather unexpectedly, not seeing such an answer coming before shaking her head, âand here I was; thinking that your brother was the benevolent soul of your family. My apologies for misjudging you then.â Mabel smiled once again, finally making the decision of focusing her attention on him rather than her surroundings. âI was forced to come here by a friend who ditched me for some kind of fuckboy. If it werenât for you Iâd already be home now.â
A grin steadily crept across Nateâs lips as he wiped at the dew gathering on his glass idly, shrugging. âIâm not complaining, of course,â he assured, voice deep and molasses-slow. âItâs just a pleasantly-surprising recurrence.â He didnât need to mention anything about why it was surprising. He was certain the entire school (and maybe then some) knew about why he shouldnât be particularly popular with the Neilson clan. He had, at first, almost predicted Mabel to follow that status quo, but their last few encounters had proved that she was anything but predictable; and definitely good company.
âOh, got an idea about me, dâyou?â he grinned, shrugging a shoulder. âExperiences really arenât as great as youâd expect. Not that I donât love the entourage, really, itâs fantastic.â He took another sip of his drink, meeting her eyes again with his smile still full-force. âBut itâs much better to be fancied by someone you like back.â He waved a hand royally, joking rolling his eyes. âIâve taken offense, truly. No but, honestly; I think Judeâs anatomy is made up of candy floss and glitter, heâs just good. Iâm the bad seed, probably the guy parents warn their daughters about.â Nate leaned forward with his forearms propped up on his thighs, raising an eyebrow. âSounds like a friend who deserves their friend-status revoked. Well, since youâre stuck with me anyway, we could always get out of here and go somewhere else. Clear skies tonight; might as well.â
That sounds ridiculous mate, but you do you. Why are we even talking about your little sister?
Few people saw you two together, and knowing the troublemaker you are, Iâm sure thatâs a bad idea. Why have you been talking to her, is the better question?
Judeâs eyes winded a little, not entirely sure if he was kidding or not. âWait â are you serious? Maybe itâs for the best, yâknow? I assume Chanel wouldnât be too happy if I cheated on her with you â out of all people.â His words were followed by a deep frown, before offering Nate a hesitant smile and continuing his explanation. âBut Iâll still stay your woman, though. Iâm in way too deep to forget about you now.â He couldnât help but breathe out a surprised chuckle when he asked about BeyoncĂ©. It made Jude look at his twin rather fondly, wondering if he already knew that he would place him above anyone. âYouâre, like, above BeyoncĂ©. Sheâs a close second.â He couldnât help but think about how nice it felt to have Nate insisting on buying him stuff, simply because Jude was always the one who took that role upon himself. âWait, what if you buy the matching coats and I buy us lunch along with the bubble tea?âÂ
Nate wanted to cry with how utterly concerned his twin looked, like he was actually sincerely afraid that he was about to hurt Nateâs feelings or break his heart. âLook,â he said with a long-suffering sigh, playing along, âI will try to understand you, but you really canât keep me as the side hoe forever.â He laughed, rubbing at his chest idly. âGood, please donât abandon me, being best friends with your mirror image is just wicked.â He almost gasped loudly. âAbove Beyonce? Bro... now you really deserve a new coat.â He grinned, clapping his hands together. âDeal, letâs do this then.â
Corrupting her? Sheâs what⊠16? She should know stuff man. Give her the talk or something. And no need for in-circle brutality. I ainât doing anything.
âno she shouldnât, sheâs the golden child, she has at least another decade until she needs to be exposed to your shit, christ help us. yeah, why donât i believe that?â
Who Needs Superheroes When You Have A Brother? - Nate & Dianna
It wasnât that she hated Theo because frankly, Dianna didnât think she could bring herself to actually feel that way about a person. More she was confused by the whole situation that went down during New Years Eve and she needed to keep her distance from him. To stay away from him if not for her sake than also for his. Sheâd had enough of his crap after attempting to be nice to him but even Dianna could be nice for so long before she cracked. And who better to help her out with making sure they kept their distance than Diannaâs very own brotherâ Nate. After all, he was best friends with the guy even if Theo wouldnât actually admit it to Dianna. Besides, it wouldnât be too difficult for her to track down her brother considering he was at the gym at the same time after class every Thursday.
Making her way down their when she was certain Nate would be there, she had strategically dressed wearing a big fluffy cardigan because A) No one would ever question that when it was snowing and the middle of winter and B) because it hid the mark on her arm that was yet to heal which Theo had made even if it was an accident. Sneaking in past the front desk, she quickly ran into the gym before anyone could question her since she didnât have membership and she most definitely wasnât dressed like she was going to work out and walked around, frantically searching for her brother before anyone could shoo her out. However, it wasnât too difficult to find him since Dianna had known he was probably pumping weights. âNateâŠâ She called his name as she marched up to him, arms crossed over her chest and concerned expression written on her face. âCan we talk? PleaseâŠ.just 5 minutes and Iâll let you go back to working out.â Dianna asked softly already feeling guilty that she was distracting him from getting on with his day.
@natebackers
Post-Christmas holidays had Nate cracking down at the gym more often than he usually did, knowing that if he didnât get straight back into it, the weight heâd gained in such a short time would be a huge hassle to shed later and get in the way of his dancing. He was there again, at the usual time on the usual day even though he was there almost everyday now; working on a barbell at the bench press. It was tough, coming back to this after two weeks of eating and lazing around; and he immediately regretted taking on a heavier barbell today, it was too soon.
A familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts, though, and Nate stared up at the metal bar above him with a heavy frown. Dianna? He carefully lifted the barbell up and repositioned it, seeing his sister appear at the corner of his vision as he did. He sat up, giving her a surprised look as he tried to breathe normally again so he could speak. âFive... no, of course love. Just lemme...â He leaned over the other side, picking up his t-shirt and pulling it on lest the aircon catch his sweat, facing her with a frown. âSomething wrong?â
âI saw a quote⊠Well just someone saying something online, Iâm not sure if thatâs a quote as it isnât a famous quote⊠but⊠It was something along the lines of when someone drops their violin, part of me chips away into the void. When they drop my violin, all of me disintegrates awayâŠ
Iâm not sure Iâve ever identified to anything so much before.â
"Thatâs real deep, teachâ. Never heard it before and donât really get it, but Iâll try not to drop your violin.â
Me? Nothin much. Just teaching her some truths you seem to have forgotten. Her reactions are fun.
There are some truths she donât need to learn yet, and you better not be corrupting her. Youâre my bro, but I swear to god Iâll knock you out, yeah?

objectionable assistance (nate&zara)
Zara smirked. âNot hasty, dear, just truthful.â she corrected him as she wiped a lose strand of hair out of her face before fixing her gaze back on the boy. âEven if I did regret agreeing to this, Iâm not a bailer. If you have my wordâwell, you have it.â she said, frowning before clearing her throat.
When Nate switched positions in his seat, Zara kept a close eye on him, using the time gratefully to check him out in the proces. The boy was, looks-wise, definitely her cup of tea. But then again, she wondered whether there was any girl in this school whoâd contradict her. Though him speaking up made her put her focus back on his face. âGood.â she said when he agreed on going outside. She stood up and put on her coat before following him out. âWho would?â the girl replied as she walked through the door, searching for her pack of joints in her bag. When they stood outside, she handed him a joint only to put one inbetween her own lips before lighting it, offering him her fire as well.
A grin crept onto Nateâs lips. âThatâs admirable, miss. Donât know many myself who hold to the same kind of moral standards.â Which was, sadly, true. But this was QESA, after all; drama and deceit ran rampant around here. âCanât remember the last time I trusted any of my mates when theyâve said I promise, bro.â
He wasnât blind to the way sheâd been looking at him, but he was far past being affected by it in general. It didnât stop him from doing the same to her while he followed her out -- he was only human, after all, and a male one, at that. âProbs plenty of the goody-two-shoes around,â he snickered, shrugging on his jacket before the cold air hit them on the way out.  âBut more for us.â Nudging the tip of his cigarette to the cherry of hers, he waited for the embers to spark before moving back to take his first puff, the end now properly lit. âNot bad shit. How long you been smoking?â
midnight memories ( nate&julia )
Julia had been staring at her closet for way too long, normally she wouldnât but she wanted to look â approachable. She pursed her lips together as she wasnât able to find anything good but luckily a friend had a dress for her. She took a shower as she got dressed up afterwards. Julia looked in the mirror whilst starting to feel nervous, which was odd for her. It was probably because the brunette had never been to a gala and she didnât knew Nate that well. Sure, she heard about him from time to time but although he seemed like a good guy.
Of course a part of her was excited to go to the gala, it was always something she wanted to do but it wasnât really her life style. Julia was a gypsy, so she travelled a lot and discovered some beautiful places with her family. She did miss her family, they were her home and she had some unforgettable memories with them but it was good to try something new, so she was glad he asked her. She wanted to know what it was like to have a normal life.
She couldnât deny the fact that Nate was good-looking and was aware of that many girls liked him but somehow she couldnât stop but wondering why he had asked her, well it would be good to get to know some other people better. They had just met but he already seemed easy to talk to and she liked that feeling. She already felt comfortable around him.
Julia was putting her shoes on as she heard a knock on her door and before she knew it her roommate had opened it, whom had been questioning her the whole time. When he asked where she was Julia stepped towards the door. âHi.â She said smiling while looking at him. Her mouth fell about a bit because he looked really good, âYou look handsome.â Julia added as she shot him a soft smile.
Her roommate may as well have just become invisible as Nateâs gaze switched over to Julia, forgetting the otherâs existence as he smiled and gave her an appraising once-over. âHi yourself,â he said with an approving smile. âYou donât look too bad yourself; gonna fit right in, I reckon.â He threw a thumb over his shoulder as if gesturing to something behind him. âIâve parked just in front of the school, so... whenever youâre ready to go?â
During the walk to the car, Nate explained a bit about how the gala operated; how they would have high-profile guests walk in last to make an entrance to the rest (which, he warned, would include him and Julia), how they started with a speech from one of the gala hosts before everyone would sit for dinner at their assigned seats, and that after the main course and just before dessert was served, guests would usually start to leave their tables to mingle and drink and dance.
âAnytime youâre not comfortable or whatever,â he was saying as he opened the car door for her, âwe can go get some air on this nice balcony they have there. And if anyone asks you some dumbass question, just look at me and Iâll answer for you.â He smiled widely. âOkay?â
&&. navana || allâs fair...
Havana couldnât help but laugh softly at his suggestion to get some food later. For as long as she knew the boy, he had always been the hungry type. Luckily he was blessed with a fast metabolism, leaving him to look always absolutely amazing and fit. But he wasnât the only one with a stomach asking for some of those cotton candy or popcorn. âOkayâYouâve got yourself a deal.â The blonde said smiling.
When they arrived at the booth, a bow was immediately pushed in their hands. Other than she had previously stated, the girl really sucked at this. She barely had had a bow in her hands before. âWeâll see, Backersfeld. Weâll see.â Havana said, smiling cheekily at him before pointing her arrow at the aim. Once she let go of it, the arrow dug itself in the ring on the outside. The girl pouted and when she saw how Nate had done way better than her, she smiled sheepishly and said: âI need some time.â And with the she tried again and again, each shot worse than the one before. âI think my bowâs broken.â Havana mumbled when all her arrows had been shot.
"Perfect,â he grinned, knowing full well how acquainted Havana was with his eating habits. He recalled a time when heâd been overly-obsessed with the gym and would drive her crazy with his protein shakes and meal replacements, until he finally stopped with the crazy diets and heeded her advice to eat real protein and not processed powders.
His next few shots werenât as good, perhaps his determination to do well was actually making him too tense and unfocused. As he teased Havana while doing just as badly himself, though, he began to relax and laugh more, his arrows finding their target better near the latter end of the activity. Once they were both out of arrows, Nate looked over at Havanaâs board and then her regretful expression, placing his hands on his hips. âNow, Miss Neilson,â he began with a feigned scolding tone, âyou didnât just let me win, did you?â
âWell, yeah,â he replied with a chuckle before shaking his head. âI donât think theyâd even be surprised. Like, might as well make it Facebook official.â Jude sighed happily before a goofy grin settled itself on his face after Nate praised him. âI am? Like, youâre definitely mine too. I mean like, next to BeyoncĂ© because Ifeel like I should be honest here.â And when Nate wanted to return the favor, Jude shook his head, not wanting his brother to feel like he owed him something. âAbsolutely not. Just give me all your love and attention and Iâll be happy.â
"Already tried that once, actually. Facebook said You canât be married to your brother, which was kind of rude of it; dictating how I live my life.â A sliver of teeth appeared as his smile widened, watching Jude light up under the compliment. âOh yeah? Well, Iâd hope so, Iâd feel gutted if this brotherly love wasnât mutual. Wait, am I next to Beyonce, or second to her? Just to check.â He grunted, brows drawing tight. âNo, of course youâre getting something. How about we go pick out matching winter coats. Or I buy you lunch. Or warm bubble tea, at the very least.â
âItâs not effort, look at it more like a challenge, donât you love those? You still have fantastic taste? I kinda doubt it, youâll have to prove it. Around three-ish maybe?â
"Guess I do. Wow, rude, but Iâll take that challenge too. Three-ish? Iâll come pick you up at 3:30 then, howâsat?â
