(DACRE MONTGOMERY, CISMALE, HE/HIM) you’ve probably already heard of NATHANIEL TAYLOR through the LA music scene. the TWENTY-THREE year old is the RHYTHM GUITARIST & CO-LEAD VOCALS of the band SHY VIOLETS, an INDIE POP band that has FOUR members & sounds kind of like GROUPLOVE, FICKLE FRIENDS & THE KOOKS. NATE is said to be EASYGOING but also SKEPTICAL. i wonder what bandslam makes of them?

bio !!

nathaniel drake taylor was born and raised in san francisco, california.

his mother, a concert pianist, instilled music in him from birth---she taught him piano as soon as he had the dexterity to press the keys.

as he grew up, he gravitated more and more towards other instruments---the one that held most wonder to him most was guitar. when his mother found out, she made nate a deal that as long as he continued piano, he could do guitar as well. he took it without question.

though, growing up with music as a second language made it so that he wanted, he had to find more ways to express himself. he started chasing other instruments, as well

his father, an architect, who was clueless about music but aware of nate’s noted love for music, tried to help. for christmas one year, he got nate a ukelele and it all started from there---nate started practicing it with fervor, gravitating more towards instruments with strings

with the help of his family and part time job delivering newspapers, he even bought himself a mandolin for his own birthday

though---he didn’t get to practice this mandolin very much, given that his parents divorced less than a year later, when he was thirteen. after this, he moved to woodland hills, california with his mom, where she still lives.

the next two years were spend mastering the guitar, the ukeleke, the mandolin, saving up money to buy himself a collection of many other instruments

though his mother she never really called him out on focusing away from piano, she never really approved of it which led nate to find acceptance elsewhere, and he found it when he was fifteen and he started going out to shows and gigs around LA, immersing himself in the scene and making friends all over.

around this time, he also started recording himself and putting videos up on youtube of just him and his guitar. he continued this on and off for a few years and still, to this day, posts covers sometimes when he’s bored.

at nineteen, he moved out of his mom’s house, getting a place with geeta in the city. he started college after a year of working at the jukebox in any shift that would take him.

even though he was posting videos to youtube, he was never discovered per se---rather, he discovered his future by himself, finding a place amongst the violets and sticking to it until the shy violets became his friends, family, band, and life partners all in one

he never really expected them to be famous with them. a part of him wanted the fame, for the fact of being recognized on the street, but he never expected it.

nowadays, he’s banking on the band working out because he dropped out of college and quit his job for it.

the roll of nate’s eyes at ricky’s confident words is interrupted by the warm contact of skin on skin. they stand, chest on chest, and nate can't help but run blunt fingernails down ricky's back, digging them in to be annoying. he’s about to make fun of ricky for his words when he feels a hand his cock. nate hisses as ricky touches him, hips moving of their own accord as he gets out an answer, not letting ricky have the last word here, “yeah, daddy,” he regrets the word immediately after it leaves his lips, the meaning of it sounding heavier in this setting. yet he soldiers on sarcastically, “i’ve always craved the unmistakable charm of you when you tell me to fuck o-off.” the stutter is something he hates happens, but it's when ricky's hand twists that he falters, and the dent it makes on his pride is unmistakable. 

he uses his leverage on the situation to turn them around, pulling ricky’s hand out of his pants before pushing the other man down onto the bed, leaving him there as he undresses further. nate pushes his jeans down, making a show of it, words accompanying the action, “how ‘bout you? with how much you call me pretty boy, you can't tell me you haven't always wanted this. i won’t believe you if you do.”

the smirk on his face doesn’t falter as he kicks out of his pants, no hesitation in him as he leans over and curls his fingers over the waistband of ricky’s jeans, undoing them with only the precision practiced hands brings. then he’s tugging them off ricky’s hips and leaving them over his thighs as nate climbs into the bed to join the other man, his sworn enemy, leaning on his elbow over him. nate’s free hand slips under the waistband of ricky's underwear and hums at what he finds, as if impressed. “y’know, i always expected you to be small but i can admit when i’m wrong,” he wraps a firm hand around ricky’s cock, giving it a pump that's almost this side of too-rough. his words are unbothered as he works ricky, slowly and surely, “tell you what. i'll be generous.” he punctuates the sentence with a rough movement of his hand. “i'll let you fuck me, huh? i’m a nice guy like that, i’m giving.” he doesn’t let up with the movements of his hand as he speaks. “just promise me you won't be gentle. and be aware i’ll be scoring you as we go.”

returning to the apartment at one a.m, with split skin dripping blood down his cheekbone was just another end to just another night out for ricky. it was almost like the more exposure the band got, the more he knew he should be avoiding getting into trouble, but also the more he ended up finding himself caught in it. tensions were high as everything he had was now riding on the band, so the minute somebody insulted them he was all fists and fury no matter were he was, even just during a night at the bar. in the uber home, he had hoped he could get back and just take his drunken self straight to bed, but it seemed his neighbor had other ideas.

he swore he hated nate. the guy was cocky and arrogant, but somewhere deep down ricky knew he couldn’t really hate him since he’d be a hypocrite to. but even if they had their moments of tolerating each other, he considered him a sworn enemy. “oh yeah? and you look fuckin’ fantastic, pretty boy. honestly. i’m overjoyed to see you.”  ricky had no patience for the other tonight, with his smart ass remarks and shit-eating grin, which is what quickly escalated the interaction into a brawl. their most pathetic one ever to date, as the pair of them were too drunk to do any actual damage.

in his frustration at not being able to land a single punch, ricky gave up. for a moment, he just stood and stared at nate, snarling with his teeth and nostrils still full of blood from the bar altercation. he knew he wasn’t done with him, but fighting clearly wasn’t working and even if it was, he’d had enough for one night. so in a spare of the moment decision, his body filled with liquid confidence— he slammed the other against a wall, crashing his bloody lips against his. if fighting wouldn’t work, surely kissing him would at least satisfy the goal to piss him off, right?

though it had surprised him, nathaniel taylor has never been someone to turn down a kiss from someone he ( grudgingly ) thought was attractive. it’s how he finds himself, responding to ricky’s touch, a hand landing on ricky’s back to press them closer together in a mess of tongues and teeth. 

there’s an undignified groan that leaves nate’s mouth as he feels a hand at his throat. he counters the touch with a bite at ricky’s lips, not going into this without putting up a fight. there’s a second when they pull away, where nate can’t do anything but wait until his brain catches up with his actions. he hears ricky mumble into the air between them and nate barely has time to give a self-satisfied smirk before they’re kissing again, ricky’s wandering hand trailing down. at the action, nate finds his own hands moving coming to grip ricky’s hips, tilting their hips together in a desperate movement. the kiss turns sloppy as nate feels the implications crashing down on him but he feels enough momentum in him to do something stupid, like sleeping with ricky fuckin’ clark.

he doesn’t stop their hips moving as he pulls away again, breathing heavy into the scant space between their lips. “c’mon loverboy,” his head thumps onto the wall behind him, the movement of them making him gasp softer, feeling himself harden at the pressure. “my place, let me open the door, c’mon.”

the last person nate wanted to see at this time of night was ricky fuckin’ clark---yet here the other man was, standing by his front door, looking like dickhead he is. while it’s true that nate has never really hated ricky, he does dislike the other man for his holier-than-thou attitude and simple amount of douchebaggery he exudes ( he can hear gee’s voice in the back of his head: ‘pot, meet kettle’ ). and while nate isn’t drunk, he is tipsy enough to scoff in the other man’s direction. “you look worse than usual, clark.” the keys in his hand clatter as he swings them, steps coming to stand halfway between both of their apartments. “cat drag you in and around the block? or did no one want to touch your greasy hair tonight?”

he’s not sure what to expect---some more of their always fun banter, maybe---but the fight is nowhere near the top of the list. ricky is on him in blur and all nate can do is plant his feet and hope he doesn’t topple over. it’s been too long since nate has been in a fight and he’s sloppy with it, hand not a full fist as he swings it into ricky’s midsection, head swimming with the remnants of the alcohol he’s had. “you’re so fuckin’ stupid, clark, i sweartogod---” nate feels their bodies pressed together, chest to chest, as ricky muscles him against the wall. he can’t move, only squirm against the other man, legs slotted together in a way that’s almost reminiscent of--- “fuck you, dick,” is the last he can say before their lips meet, the kiss more of a meeting of clacking teeth and too-rough lips.
